Sale Order Split
The Sales Order Split functionality in Odoo is a powerful tool that allows users to split an existing sales order
into multiple orders or adjust its quantities. This feature is ideal for managing partial deliveries, phased shipments,
or stock adjustments. It provides options to create backorders or cancel them, ensures accurate tracking of changes through
detailed logs, and maintains seamless integration with other Odoo modules. With a user-friendly wizard and robust validation,
it streamlines sales order management while ensuring flexibility and accuracy.

Configuration
Users can only split Sale Orders that are not Confirmed, which means the orders in
the "Quotation" stage.
When you click the Split button, a new quotation split wizard will open.
Choose whether to create a backorder for the remaining quantities or not, using the backorder field.
If the user selects "Yes" for the backorder, a backorder will be created for the remaining quantities, and the existing order will be updated as per the approved quantity.
The system will update the original order, keeping the lines that match the approved quantity in it.
A new draft sales order will be created automatically for the remaining quantity.
Users can view the reference of the sale order by going to the Other Info tab → Tracking section and checking the Source Document field.
If the user selects "No" for the backorder, a backorder will be Canceled for the remaining quantities, and the existing order will be updated as per the approved quantity.
The system will update the original order, keeping the lines that match the approved quantity in it.
A new Cancelled sales order will be created automatically for the remaining quantity.
Users can see a detailed History of Sale Order Splits in the History Tab including the split date, time and user details.
Sale Order Split Prevented on Validation
When you try to split a sale order with the same quantity, the system will show
a validation error: “You cannot split a line with the same quantity. Please reduce the quantity to proceed.”
When you try to split a sale order with a quantity greater than the order quantity, the system will show a validation error: “Split quantity must be less than the order quantity.”
