POS Stock Display
Show real-time on-hand stock on Point of Sale product cards for a location you choose, with unit of measure, color-coded badges, optional cart-aware quantities, and the ability to block adding out-of-stock products to the order.
Overview
This module displays stock quantities directly on POS product tiles. Quantities are calculated from the internal stock location configured on the Point of Sale and include the product unit of measure. Stock badges refresh when orders are synchronized with the backend. Cashiers can see at a glance what is available on the shop floor, and you can optionally prevent selling products when stock is zero or insufficient.
Dependencies: Point of Sale and Inventory (Stock) must be installed.
Key Features
Location-Based Stock
Choose the internal location on the POS configuration. Quantities include all sub-locations under that location.
Unit of Measure
Each badge shows quantity with the product UOM, for example 16 Units or 2.5 kg.
Color-Coded Badges
Green for positive stock, grey for zero, and red for negative stock when overselling is allowed.
Reduce Cart Quantity
Optionally subtract items already in the current order from displayed stock so cashiers see what is still available.
Block Out-of-Stock Products
Prevent adding products to the cart when available stock is zero or insufficient. Quantity increases on order lines are also blocked above available stock.
Multi-Variant Support
Products with multiple variants show one badge per variant on the template card so each size, color, or option is visible.
Configuration
Set up stock display and restrictions on your Point of Sale.
Step 1''Open POS settings
Go to Point of Sale → Configuration → Point of Sale, open your shop, or use Settings → Point of Sale when a config is selected. Find the POS Stock Display / Display Stock in POS section under Inventory.
Step 2''Enable options
- Display Stock in POS: Show on-hand quantity badges on product cards.
- Block Out-of-Stock Products: Prevent adding products when stock is zero or insufficient (can be used with or without stock badges).
- Stock Location (required): Select the internal location whose on-hand quantity is used.
- Badge Position: Top Left, Top Right, Bottom Left, Bottom Right, or Center on each product card.
- Reduce Cart Quantity: Subtract items already in the current order from displayed stock badges.
Step 3''Open a new POS session
After installing or upgrading bits_pos_stock, close any open POS session and open a new one. Hard-refresh the browser (Ctrl+Shift+R) if stock badges do not appear.
How to Use''POS
View stock on product cards
- Open a POS session with Display Stock in POS enabled.
- Stock badges appear on storable and consumable product cards.
- Green = in stock, grey = zero, red = negative.
- Badges refresh after orders are synced with the server.
Sell with stock restriction
- Enable Block Out-of-Stock Products on the POS config.
- Out-of-stock products are dimmed on the product screen.
- Clicking or scanning an unavailable product shows an Out of stock message.
- Increasing quantity on an order line above available stock is also blocked.
