Configuration
1. Enable Lots and serial no in Inventory settings.
Create Vehicle
Navigate to Car Dealership → Click New to create Vehicle template(Draft state). Fill in neccessary details such as Brand, Model and Year Click 'Save' to create a product template for the vehicle. This automatically creates a product template that can be used in purchasing the product.
Purchase Workflow
1. Create a Purchase Order and select the vehicle.
2. Each vehicle can be added as a single line for
traceability.
3. The system pulls the purchase price automatically from the
vehicle
record.
4. Confirm the Purchase Order.
Receiving Vehicle into Inventory
1. Click on Receive product/receipt.
2. Enter or generate the VIN number.
3. Validate the receipt to register the car in stock.
4. Each VIN becomes a unique tracked vehicle in the system.
5. Enter detailed specs if not already entered.
6. Click 'Make Available' to move it into the 'Available'
state.
Only in the Available state can it be sold in the Sales module.
Selling the Vehicle
1. Create a Sales Order and select the vehicle.
2. Deliver and invoice the vehicle through the standard Odoo Sales
process.
3. Once sold, the vehicle moves to the sold state.
Post-Sale Management
Dealership managers can:
- View available vehicles in the Kanban dashboard.
- Filter by Brand, Model, Year, etc.
Dealership Dashboard Overview
The dashboard shows all available (unsold) vehicles in a Kanban view. You can apply group or apply filters such as vehicle template, available, sold, Brand, Year, and more to quickly locate vehicles.
Register and manage vehicles with detailed information (Brand, Model, Year, Engine, etc.).
Track each vehicle as a unique unit using VIN/Chassis Number.
Seamless integration with Purchase Orders, Inventory, Sales, and Fleet.
State-based vehicle lifecycle: Draft → Purchase → Available → Sold.
Kanban dashboard to display available vehicles with filters for easy management.
Automatic updates when vehicles are purchased, received, or sold.
Each car is uniquely tracked with its VIN, ensuring accurate history and easy follow-up from purchase to sale.
The process flows smoothly through Purchase, Inventory, Sales, and Fleet, reducing complexity for users.
Vehicles automatically create linked product templates, removing double entries and keeping records consistent.
Managers can quickly see available, sold, or draft vehicles through an intuitive dashboard and filters.
