WeightSheet — Catch Weight
Order in pieces. Pick in pieces. Bill by actual weight.
Built for meat, seafood, cheese and every product where no two pieces weigh the same.
Why catch weight?
A leg of lamb is sold per pound, but every leg weighs something different. Standard Odoo makes you choose: track it in units or in weight. Bill from the nominal weight and the variance quietly eats your margin on every single order. Catch Weight keeps ordering, production and picking in pieces and boxes — and bills every invoice from the weight the cases actually came out at.
Product tolerance bands
Flag any product as catch weight, set its pricing unit (lb/kg) and the expected min / avg / max piece weight straight on the product form.Per-case weigh-in at delivery
Capture gross / tare / net per physical case in Detailed Operations. Validation refuses transfers with missing weights or a case outside the product's tolerance band — the error is caught at the dock, not on the customer's invoice.Invoice true-up, to the cent
Sale lines show estimated weight at quotation (pieces × average) and re-price automatically from captured actuals on delivery. Invoices carry billed weight, price per weight unit and the weight UoM.Core-safe by design
Pricing is derived so Odoo's standard subtotal, tax and invoicing pipeline is untouched — no overridden tax math, no forked accounting. Plays cleanly with Odoo POS scale selling and GS1 weight barcodes.See it in action
Catch weight product setup — tolerance band on the product form
Sale order — estimated vs. actual weight, priced per lb
Delivery — every case weighed: gross, tare, net
Invoice — billed at actual weight, to the cent
How it works
- Flag the product — catch weight on, price per lb, tolerance band.
- Quote & confirm in pieces — the line estimates weight and value instantly.
- Weigh at pack-out — every case's gross/tare/net recorded on the delivery.
- Invoice actuals — the sale line trues-up and the invoice bills real pounds.
The WeightSheet terminal & scale hardware
The companion WeightSheet weigh-station terminal (Windows / Linux) drives bench and floor scales over serial — Mettler-Toledo SICS and CAS indicator protocols supported — with an offline-first local store that syncs captured weights into your Odoo delivery the moment the network allows. Stable-reading enforcement and tolerance checks happen right at the scale.
Beyond billing: available-to-promise for protein
Catch Weight is part of the Cash Sheet platform for meat processors. Our Cut Sheet ATP engine plans the carcass break itself: it optimizes cut plans against live orders, inventory and market prices, and answers the question Odoo can't — “can I promise 40 boxes of racks for Friday, and what should the rest of the animal become?” Odoo stays your ERP front end; ATP does the planning behind it.
