Quotations that never leak your internal codes
Strip the product internal reference from customer-facing sale order line descriptions — quotation, sales order, PDF report, and portal — while keeping product names, descriptions, sections, and notes exactly as your team wrote them.
Odoo auto-populates the sale order line description with the product's internal reference, e.g. “[FURN-9001] Executive Office Chair”. Every quotation, sales order, and printed PDF you send a customer exposes internal SKUs, part numbers, and supplier codes that were never meant for their eyes — undermining a polished presentation and, in some cases, revealing sourcing information a competitor could use. Apps that try to fix this by hiding the whole description field routinely break a different way: sections and notes vanish from the order along with it.
A company-wide default plus a per-order toggle strips only the “[CODE]” prefix from the customer-facing line description — product name and sale description stay exactly as entered, and sections and notes are always preserved. Internal users keep full visibility of the reference in a dedicated backend column, and a bulk wizard lets you apply the change retroactively to existing orders with a preview before you confirm.
Everything you need to keep documents code-free
Every capability below is implemented in the module.
One-toggle removal
A company-wide default and a per-order override strip the internal reference from the customer-facing description — no developer mode, no per-line editing.
Sections & notes preserved
Closes the single most damaging, publicly reported defect shared by competing apps: section headers and note lines are never touched by the removal.
Product name & description kept
Only the “[CODE]” prefix disappears — the product name and any custom sale description text remain exactly as entered.
Every customer document covered
Quotation, sales order, the printed/emailed PDF report, and the customer portal all read the same stripped description — nothing to configure per document type.
Backend visibility retained
A dedicated read-only “Internal Reference” column on the order line list keeps the code visible to internal and back-office users at all times.
Visual state badge
A clear “Hidden” / “Visible” badge on the sale order form shows the current state at a glance — no more guessing.
Bulk retroactive wizard
Apply the change to existing sale orders in one action, with a live preview of exactly how many orders and lines will change before you confirm.
Group-gated control
A dedicated security group governs who can flip the per-order toggle or run the bulk wizard, so authority stays with the roles you choose.
No developer mode needed
The company default lives in the standard Sales settings page and the per-order override lives right on the order form — a regular sales user can operate it end to end.
How it works
Enable the company default
Turn on “Hide Internal Reference on Sale Documents” in Sales settings so every new order starts code-free.
Override per order
Flip the toggle right on the sale order form for a single document, and watch the Hidden/Visible badge confirm the state.
Preview & bulk-apply
Select existing orders, run the wizard, and confirm the exact count of orders and lines that will change before applying.
Send with confidence
Quotation, PDF, and portal all show a clean, code-free description — sections and notes intact, product name and description unchanged.
See it in action
From the quotations list to the customer-facing PDF — the code disappears only where it should.
The Quotations list, unchanged — the module works entirely within your existing Sales workflow.
The “Hide Internal Reference” toggle and amber “Hidden” badge on the order form — the backend “Internal Reference” column still shows the code to internal users.
Toggle off, green “Visible” badge — the clear visual-state contrast no competitor provides.
The company-wide default in Sales settings — no developer mode required to configure it.
The bulk wizard shows exactly how many selected orders and lines will change before you confirm — no competitor offers this preview.
The customer-facing quotation: no “[CODE]” prefix, product names and descriptions intact, and both sections and the note line fully preserved.
For contrast: the same document with the toggle off, showing the codes that leak into every customer PDF without this module.
Frequently asked
Does this hide the whole description, or just the internal reference?
Only the internal reference — the “[CODE]” prefix. The product name and any sale description text you or your team typed remain exactly as entered on every customer-facing document.
Will my sections and notes disappear when I enable this?
No. Section headers and note lines are never touched by the removal — this closes the exact defect reported against several competing apps.
Can back-office and internal users still see the internal reference?
Yes. A dedicated read-only “Internal Reference” column on the order line list keeps the code visible internally, regardless of what the customer sees.
Can I apply this to sale orders I already created?
Yes. The bulk wizard lets you select any existing orders, previews exactly how many orders and lines will change, and applies the update in a single confirmed action.
