Split sale orders the safe way
Move or duplicate sale order lines into a new or existing quotation with a live before/after preview, per-line partial quantities, one-click availability splitting, and full parent-child traceability.
A single sales order often cannot be fulfilled as one unit — some lines are in stock while others are on backorder, or a customer asks for an early partial delivery. In stock Odoo the only fix is to manually recreate a second order line-by-line and delete the moved lines from the original, a slow process that breaks the audit trail and loses the link between parent and child documents.
A guided split wizard: pick the lines, set how much of each to move, see exactly what the original and the new order will look like, then confirm. Every split or extract is logged and linked back to its origin, so nothing is orphaned and nothing is a surprise.

Every capability below is implemented in the module.
Split or Extract Mode
Split mode moves selected lines into a new quotation and removes them from the source. Extract mode duplicates the lines while leaving the source untouched, for quoting and variant workflows.
New or Existing Destination
Send split or extracted lines into a brand new quotation, or consolidate them onto an existing draft quotation — chosen at split time.
Partial-Quantity Split
Move a partial quantity from any line — ship the units on hand now and leave the backordered remainder on the source order, without re-keying quantities by hand.
Live Before / After Preview
See exactly what the original order and the new order will contain — lines and quantities — before anything is created, so a split is never a blind action.
One-Click Availability Split
A single "Split Available" action pre-selects every in-stock line, so the goods that can ship today move to a new order in one click.
In-Stock / Backorder Badges
Each line in the wizard shows a live availability badge — In Stock, Backorder, or N/A for services — computed from current on-hand stock.
Select All & Live Counter
Select All and Deselect All controls plus a running "N of M lines selected" counter make bulk selection clear on orders with many lines.
Parent → Child Traceability
Every split or extracted order links back to its origin with smart buttons on both sides, so staff can navigate between related documents without searching.
Split History & Role Access
A dedicated audit log records who split what, in which mode, into which order. A Split Sale Orders security group controls who can perform splits.
How it works
Open Split / Extract
From any quotation or sales order, launch the wizard and choose Split or Extract mode.
Select Lines & Quantities
Pick lines individually, use Select All, or click Split Available to grab every in-stock line. Adjust the quantity to move per line.
Review the Preview
Check the side-by-side preview of the resulting original and new order before confirming anything.
Confirm & Track
Confirm to create the linked order. Smart buttons and the Split History log keep both documents traceable.

A quotation with in-stock, backorder, and service lines — the Split / Extract button is always discoverable on the order form.
The full split wizard: Split/Extract mode, new/existing destination, Select All / Deselect All / Split Available, per-line In Stock / Backorder / N/A badges, the qty to move column, and both before-and-after preview panels.
After a split, the source order carries only its remaining lines plus Split Orders and Split History smart buttons with live counts.
The new child order shows a "Split From" link back to its source, so the parent-child relationship is never lost.
The Split History log records every split and extract — source order, result order, mode, lines moved, and who did it.
Frequently asked
What is the difference between Split and Extract?
Split removes the selected lines (or quantities) from the source order and moves them to the destination order. Extract copies the selected lines to the destination while leaving the source order completely unchanged.
Can I move only part of a line's quantity?
Yes. The wizard has a quantity-to-move field per line, so you can send the units that are in stock now and leave the rest on the source order for later delivery.
How does the availability badge get calculated?
Each stockable line is compared against current on-hand quantity to show In Stock or Backorder. Service and non-stockable lines show N/A since availability does not apply to them.
Who is allowed to perform a split?
Access is controlled by a dedicated Split Sale Orders security group, so administrators can decide which users are allowed to restructure orders.
