The problem
The pricing problem every eCommerce seller knows
|
Not everything has a fixed price
Made to order goods, bulk deals and B2B items are priced per customer, so a public Add to Cart price is wrong before the conversation even starts. |
Showing a price scares buyers off
A high sticker price with no context makes shoppers leave, when a simple Request a Quote would have started a deal you could actually win. |
Enquiries get lost in email
Without a clear button, interested visitors send a message that never reaches Sales, and the lead is gone with no quotation on record. |
What this module does
Request a Quote for eCommerce lets your shop sell on enquiry instead of on checkout. Flag a single product, a whole product category, or the entire website as quote only, and every matching product hides its price and replaces Add to Cart with a Request a Quote button, on both the shop grid and the product page.
When a visitor submits, their cart becomes a draft quotation in Sales rather than going to payment. The website salesperson is assigned, a follow up activity is scheduled, a note is posted in the chatter, and the customer sees a clean thank you page. Payment is blocked on a quote cart at the server, so a request never slips through to a real online payment by mistake. Your normal products keep the full native Add to Cart and checkout flow.
|
๐
Sell on enquiry, not checkout
Quote only products show a Request a Quote button in place of Add to Cart and keep their price hidden, so buyers ask instead of guessing. |
๐
You choose the scope
Flag one product, a whole category, or flip the entire website to quote only from a single setting. Run a normal shop and an enquiry catalog side by side. |
โ
Every request reaches Sales
A submitted request becomes a draft quotation with the salesperson assigned and a follow up activity, so no enquiry is ever lost in an inbox. |
See it in action
From setup to the quote landing in Sales
Follow the whole flow, the way you and your customer will use it.
When a portal customer requests a quote, the draft quotation carries their own account, so their name, address and requested products are already there for your salesperson to follow up.
A guest fills in their details at checkout and Odoo saves them as the quotation customer, so your salesperson always knows whom to follow up with, even without an account.
A logged in customer keeps their email, phone and address on their own account, and the Sales button links straight to the quotation, so your salesperson can send the quote back without chasing details.
A guest fills in their email, phone and address at checkout and Odoo saves them as a contact linked to the quote, so your team always knows whom to contact, even without an account.

Frequently asked questions
Open the product, go to the Sales tab and turn on Quote only in the Ecommerce Shop section. On the shop that product now hides its price and shows a Request a Quote button in place of Add to Cart, while the rest of your catalog keeps the normal Add to Cart flow.
Yes. You control it per product, or per product category if you want a whole group to follow one rule, and everything else in the shop keeps selling normally with Add to Cart and checkout. You can also flip the entire website to quote only from a single website setting when you sell only on enquiry.
Yes. A quote only product hides its price on both the shop listing grid and the product detail page, so shoppers request a quote instead of seeing a figure. Your normal products still display their price as usual.
Their cart is turned into a draft quotation in Sales instead of going to payment. The module assigns the website salesperson, schedules a follow up activity, records a note in the chatter, and shows the customer a thank you page confirming that the request was received.
No. Both guest visitors and logged in customers can request a quote. A logged in customer can also follow the resulting request from their portal, while a guest simply gets the thank you confirmation.
