Overview
Restrict Out of Stock Product on POS enhances the Odoo Point of Sale with real-time inventory visibility and configurable stock control rules. Cashiers can instantly see available quantities, receive low-stock alerts, and prevent accidental sales of products that are no longer available.

Install module/application.

Once the module is installed, open Settings and navigate to the
Point of Sale section. Under the POS Stock Visibility configuration block,
enable Display Stock in POS to show product stock quantities directly on POS product cards.
Once enabled, additional configuration options will become available.
Select the desired Stock Type based on your business requirements. You can display
Qty On Hand, Forecasted Quantity (Virtual Qty), or choose Both to show
complete stock information to cashiers. You can also configure a Low Stock Threshold
to highlight products that are running low on inventory.
To display the remaining available quantity directly on POS order lines, enable the
Display Stock on Order Lines option. This helps cashiers monitor stock availability
while creating orders.
If you want to prevent the sale of unavailable products, enable
Restrict Product Out of Stock in POS. Additional restriction settings will then appear,
allowing you to choose between:
Warning Only â Displays a warning message when an out-of-stock product is selected while still allowing the sale.
Block Sale â Completely prevents the addition or sale of out-of-stock products in the POS.
Configure these options according to your inventory management policy to ensure accurate stock control and prevent overselling in Odoo POS.

Once all configurations are completed, open your Point of Sale session.
As shown in the first screenshot below, you can easily monitor product stock availability
directly on the POS product cards. The module displays real-time stock quantities with
visual indicators, helping cashiers quickly identify products that are in stock, running low,
or out of stock. If enabled, the remaining available quantity is also displayed at the
order line level while creating sales orders.
As shown in the second screenshot, when a cashier attempts to add a product with
zero available stock to the cart, the system will display an out-of-stock warning
message if the Warning Only option is configured. This helps users stay informed about
inventory availability before completing the sale.
If the Block Sale option is enabled instead, the system will prevent the out-of-stock
product from being added or sold in the POS, ensuring accurate inventory control and helping
prevent overselling.
