Cash On Delivery (COD)

This module integrates a “Cash On Delivery” (COD) payment method into the Odoo ecosystem, specifically designed to handle the nuances of post-delivery payments while maintaining consistency with Odoo’s payment and sales workflows.

Key Features:

  • Cash On Delivery Integration: Adds a dedicated COD payment provider and method, allowing customers to choose to pay upon receipt of their goods.
  • Configurable Transaction States: Provides flexibility in how transactions are handled after order confirmation. You can choose whether the transaction remains in a “Pending” state (ideal for manual verification or tracking) or is automatically “Authorized”.
  • Minimum Amount Threshold: Allows setting a minimum_amount for the COD option. The payment method will only be available to the customer if the order total (converted to the provider’s currency) meets or exceeds this threshold.
  • Intelligent Compatibility Filtering: Automatically ensures the COD provider is only shown when compatible with the specific order criteria, including currency and amount limits.
  • Integrity Protection: To ensure correct accounting flows, the module prevents manual setting of COD transactions to the “Done” state. This protects the reconciliation process and ensures that “Done” status is only achieved through proper validation (e.g., via the import wizard).
  • COD Payment Import Wizard: Includes a specialized utility to import payment confirmations from carriers. This wizard helps automate the validation of COD transactions by matching carrier tracking references and amounts, transitioning transactions to their final states efficiently.
  • Currency Support: Fully supports multi-currency environments by performing automatic conversions when evaluating minimum amount constraints.
  • Product Category Restriction: Allows marking specific product categories with “No Cash On Delivery”. If an order contains any product from such a category, the COD payment method will be disabled.
  • Integration with Deltatech Delivery: This module is also utilized by deltatech_delivery to enhance carrier-related payment flows and streamline the handling of delivery-based collections.
