Chatter Voice Message

Record and send voice notes directly from the chatter composer on any Odoo record. Powered by the browser's native MediaRecorder API — no external services or plugins required.

What This Module Does

Adds a microphone button next to the paperclip in every chatter composer. Click it to record a short voice note, preview it, and attach it to your message just like any other file — with native HTML5 audio playback in the message thread.

Uses the browser's MediaRecorder API to capture audio in webm/opus — no extra software, no third-party service.

Play back the recording, re-record if needed, then attach. Add a typed caption and send when you’re happy with it.

How To Use

Send your first voice message in just three steps.

1. Click the Mic

Open any record with a chatter and click the new microphone icon next to the paperclip. Allow microphone access when prompted.

2. Record & Preview

Speak your message, hit Stop, then play it back. Re-record if you want a second take — no commitment until you attach it.

3. Attach & Send

Click Attach to add the recording to the composer. Optionally type a caption, then send. It plays inline for everyone on the thread.
