Stripe Backend Billing Process
Review the exact visual panels showing customer linkage, card tokenization, checkout sessions, and gateway logs.
Configure the Stripe backend credentials (Secret Key, Publishable Key, and Webhook Signing Secret) in Invoicing -> Configuration -> Payment Providers.
Once a customer invoice is posted, a dedicated "Pay with Stripe" button appears in the action bar for internal staff to trigger payments.
The payment wizard displays billing details, allowing staff to select the payment method (Stripe Checkout redirect or charge a saved card) and optionally save the card for future use.
If Stripe Checkout is chosen, the system redirects to a secure Stripe-hosted interface to enter credit card details in compliance with PCI standards.
A success toast notifies the user of the completed payment, automatically marks the invoice as Paid, and displays smart buttons for quick reference.
Odoo generates a standard payment record with "Stripe (Backend)" as the method, linking the transaction and posting the Stripe PaymentIntent ID in the Memo.
A detailed payment transaction record is saved in Odoo with status "Confirmed", storing the provider reference and linked payment references.
Confirm the successful transaction details, including customer info, payment method brand, country, risk analysis, and Odoo metadata on the Stripe dashboard.
Verify that the Odoo partner is successfully linked to a Stripe customer profile, along with metadata references mapping back to Odoo.
Clicking "Refund via Stripe" opens a dedicated wizard where staff can specify a partial or full refund amount for a settled transaction.
Successful refunds display a confirmation, log the refund details (Refund ID, original intent ID, and amount) on the invoice chatter, and trigger a Credit Note.
Odoo creates a separate transaction for the refund with a negative amount (e.g. $-862.50), status "Confirmed", and recording the Stripe Refund ID.
Verify that the payment status is updated to "Refunded" on the Stripe portal, confirming the refund details and related customer history.
