Documents Folder Access
Propagates access changes made on an Odoo Documents folder down to every nested folder and file, so a whole document tree can be shared or un-shared in a single edit instead of touching each item by hand.
Propagates access changes made on an Odoo Documents folder down to every nested folder and file, so a whole document tree can be shared or un-shared in a single edit instead of touching each item by hand. Requires Odoo Enterprise — this module depends on the Enterprise documents app and does not install on Community.
Features
- Recursive access cascade (always on): changing
access_internal,access_via_linkoris_access_via_link_hiddenon a folder applies the same values to every descendant folder and file. - Default-deny mode (opt-in, off by default): when the system parameter
ets_documents_recursive_access.default_denyis set toTrue, any create/copy/write that does not explicitly set the access fields re-locks the document to no-access. Fresh installs leave this off; an existing install that previously relied on default-deny is kept on via migration on upgrade. - Skip context
ets_documents_recursive_access_skip=Truebypasses both behaviors for a specific write.
Configuration
1. Install the module (Enterprise documents required). 2. The cascade works automatically on access edits — no setup needed. 3. To enable the stricter default-deny behavior, set system parameter ets_documents_recursive_access.default_deny to True.
Limitations
- With default-deny enabled, even a rename or star toggle re-locks a document unless the access fields are included in the write (or the skip context is set) — this is intended, but worth knowing before turning it on.
- Cascading over very large trees writes to every descendant; expect proportional work on huge folders.
Tests
3 automated tests, run on Odoo.sh staging (Enterprise dependency; not runnable on the Community lab).
Screenshots: TODO (capture from staging).
