Portal Maintenance Mode
A single settings toggle that puts the /my portal self-service area into maintenance. Everyone — portal and internal users alike — sees an "under maintenance" page, except holders of an explicit bypass permission. The public website and the backend stay reachable throughout.
What it does
When you flip the maintenance toggle, the portal self-service area (/my) serves a branded "under maintenance" page to all users. The only way through is the "Portal Maintenance Bypass" permission, granted through the Permissions Management app, so the people running a deployment can keep working while everyone else waits. Because the gate covers internal users too, an administrator is not automatically exempt — bypass is always an explicit grant. The public website and the Odoo backend are untouched.
Highlights
- One toggle in Settings to enable/disable portal maintenance.
- Blocks the /my portal area for portal and internal users alike.
- Bypass granted exclusively via the "Portal Maintenance Bypass" permission.
- Public website and backend remain reachable.
Dependencies
portal, base_setup, plus the Permissions Management add-on.
Configuration
Settings → Portal Maintenance → toggle. Grant bypass via the "Portal Maintenance Bypass" permission in a Permissions Management role.
Coverage
- 8 automated tests covering the block/bypass matrix, including the proof that an administrator is not exempt without the permission.
- Gates /my routes only.
