User restrictions help ensure that only authorized users can view or modify specific projects and tasks, enhancing security and confidentiality within the organization. This is particularly useful for companies that manage sensitive or confidential work across different departments or teams.

Access is granted based on the following criteria:

• The user has the "View Limited Projects and Tasks" checkbox enabled in their user settings.
• The user is explicitly added to the Access Limited Users field on the specific project or task form.
• If no users are assigned to the Access Limited Users field, all users can access that project or task by default.

You can filter your project list based on your access rights directly in the Projects module. Only projects where you are listed in the Access Limited Users field (or projects with no access restriction set) will appear in your view. If you believe you are missing access to a project, contact your system administrator to have your user added.

If the Access Limited Users field is left empty on a project or task, the restriction is not applied and the record remains visible to all users in the system. This allows administrators to selectively restrict only the projects and tasks that require confidentiality, while keeping others open to the entire team.

Yes. Access restrictions can be configured independently at both the project level and the task level. This means a user may have access to a project but still be restricted from viewing certain tasks within it, allowing for fine-grained control over who can see specific work items.

Only users with Administrator access or those with the appropriate project management permissions can configure the Access Limited Users field on projects and tasks. Regular users who are restricted will not have visibility into the access settings of records they cannot view.

Yes. This module supports both Odoo Community and Odoo Enterprise editions. It is available for On Premise and Odoo.sh deployments. Please note that it is not currently available for Odoo Online (SaaS) installations.
