ODOO'S FUNCTION

In standard Odoo, while you can add components and operations to a Bill of Materials (BoM), there is no feature to classify them into specific groups. Furthermore, Odoo only allows you to view the BoM Overview for one product at a time, meaning there is no built-in tool to directly compare the differences between multiple BoMs.

CLUEDOO'S FUNCTION

Cluedoo enhances your BoM management and analysis by introducing two main improvements:

  • Detailed Classification: You can easily organize your BoM lines by assigning specific Component Categories and Operation Categories right from the setup phase.

  • Smart Side-by-Side Comparison: The BoM Overview report now features an intelligent "Compare" tool. The dropdown menu automatically filters and suggests only the relevant BoMs that share common categories with your current one. Once selected, both BoMs are displayed side by side, making the comparison process much faster and more accurate.


CONFIGURATION


  1. Go to Sales > Products > Products > Choose one product > In the product's form view, click the Bill of Materials (BoM) smart button, then select the available Bill of Materials.

2. In the Bills of Materials (BoM) form, you can now set specific categories for better tracking:

  • Set a Component Category for each component line.

  • Set an Operation Category for each operation line.

Once all configurations are complete, click the BoM Overview smart button.

USAGE


1. You can compare the current BoM with another product’s BoM by clicking the Compare dropdown menu. The dropdown will intelligently suggest available BoMs based on the following matching rules ( AND Logic ):
  • Match Condition: A BoM will only appear in the suggestion list if it shares at least one common Component category AND at least one common Operation category with your current BoM.


  • E.g: Set up the category of:

    • Bom 1: Component: X1, X2 | Operation: Y1, Y2

    • Bom 2: Component: X1, X3 | Operation: Y1, Y3

    • Result: In the compare list of Bom 1 > Can see Bom 2 (because both have category X1 and Y1 )



  • No Categories (Blank) One-Way Rule: If your current BoM has no categories assigned (Blank), it acts as a "Match All" for its own view. This means its Compare dropdown will show all other categorized BoMs.
  • Downstream One-Way Filter: A BoM with Blank categories can see and compare itself with filled/categorized BoMs. However, a categorized BoM cannot see a Blank BoM in its dropdown list.

2. Select the desired BoM from the filtered dropdown list.
The system will instantly display a side-by-side comparison for easier reference and analysis.
