Importers manage letters of credit across email threads, bank portals and spreadsheets — losing track of approvals, mounting bank charges, expiry dates and which documents have actually arrived. Letter of Credit Management brings the entire documentary-credit process into Odoo: a guided lifecycle with role-based approvals, bank charges that post their own journal entries, a document checklist, and one-click landed-cost creation from the linked purchase order.

Full LC Lifecycle
Move each LC through nine guarded stages — Draft, Requested, Finance Approval, Opened, Shipment, Documents, Goods Received, Settled, Closed — with activities scheduled at every hand-off.
Role-Based Approvals
Four dedicated security roles — Procurement, Finance Approver, Treasury and Administrator — keep the request, approval and settlement steps in the right hands.
Bank Charges & Auto Entries
Log opening commission, SWIFT, amendment, insurance and handling fees — each charge posts its own journal entry (Dr bank charges / Cr bank) on the journal and accounts you choose.
Margin & Cost Roll-up
Set a margin percentage and the module computes the margin amount, totals every bank charge, and rolls both into a single total LC cost for the deal.
Purchase Order Integration
Link a confirmed PO and the supplier, currency, LC amount and goods description fill in automatically from the order — keeping the LC and procurement in lock-step.
Landed Cost Integration
Create a landed cost from the LC in one click — pre-filled with the PO's received shipments and one cost line per bank charge — so import costs land on the right inventory.
Document Management
Attach and track every trade document — Bill of Lading, Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Certificate of Origin, Insurance — with received date and an "original received" flag.
Expiry Tracking & Alerts
Days-to-expiry and an "expiring soon" flag are computed automatically, and opening an LC schedules a warning activity two weeks before its expiry date.
Live Dashboard & Reports
An OWL dashboard shows LCs by status and value at a glance, backed by reporting views for open LCs, exposure by bank, aging and cost analysis.
