Feature Restrictions for Odoo

Centralized per-user and per-group controls for restricting Odoo features. Hide menus, apps, fields, buttons, reports, views, records, and website pages, or make selected interface elements read-only. For records, apply domain filters and let the module generate standard Odoo record rules for enforcement.

1 Assign Feature Restrictions to Users

Navigate to Settings → Users & Companies → Users, open the desired user, and select the Feature Restrictions tab. From here, administrators can create user-specific restriction rules, choose the feature to control, define the restriction type, configure optional bypass groups, and manage access policies from one location.

2 Feature Registry

The Feature Registry provides a searchable list of all available Odoo features, including menus, actions, fields, buttons, reports, views and website pages. Simply search for the feature you want to restrict and select it when creating a restriction rule.

No. Installation creates the restriction framework and populates a registry of restrictable elements. Features remain available until an administrator creates an active restriction rule.

Yes. Each rule targets exactly one user or one group. User records also show inherited group restrictions so administrators can review the effective restriction count in one place.

The module supports Hidden, Read-only, and Domain Filter rules. Domain filters require an Odoo domain string and are used for record-level policies.

Yes. For record restriction targets, the module generates standard Odoo ir.rule records. These rules are enforced by the ORM, not only by the visible interface.

No. Odoo Online does not allow custom Python modules. This module requires an On-Premise or Odoo.sh installation.

Yes. The module adds a Rebuild Registry server action under Settings -> Feature Restrictions. Use it after installing new modules or adding custom views, menus, fields, reports, or buttons.
