1. Plug & Play
Install and start using immediately:
- Go to Contacts app.
- Create or Open a contact designated as Individual (Person).
- Look at the Header section (below the main Name).
- You will see the new Name Details group.
2. Operating Manual
How to use:
Filling Data
Enter the First Name, Paternal Surname, and Maternal Surname in their respective slots. This does NOT automatically overwrite the display name, allowing you to have a "Display Name" (e.g., Prof. Smith) different from the legal components.
Seamless Layout
The fields are integrated directly into the contact header, preventing conflicts with address blocks or localization modules (like l10n_pe) that modify the address area.

Scenario 1: Individual Contact Split
- Create a new Contact. Select Individual (Person).
- In "Name Details", enter:
- First Name: Juan
- Paternal: Perez
- Maternal: Lopez
- Test: Verify that the fields are saved correctly.
- Test: Check that the standard Odoo "Name" field (Display Name) remains editable and independent (e.g., you can still name the contact "Dr. Juan Perez").
Scenario 2: Company Handling
- Create a new Contact. Select Company.
- Test: Verify that the "Name Details" section (First Name, Paternal, Maternal) is NOT VISIBLE.
- Test: Change the type back to Individual. The fields should re-appear.
Scenario 3: Header Position Verification
Goal: Ensure compatible layout.
- Open any Individual contact.
- Check the position of the new fields. They should be located immediately below the main Name and Email/Phone icons.
- Ensure they do NOT overlap with the Address block (Street, City, Country).
FAQ & Troubleshooting
Common Resolutions
I can't see the fields?
Reason: You are likely viewing a Company contact.
Fix: Switch the contact type to 'Individual' or 'Person' to reveal the name breakdown fields.
Does this change the Display Name?
Reason: No, this module allows for independent storage.
Info: Odoo's standard 'Name' field is kept separate so you can format the display name however you prefer (e.g. "Doe, John" or "John Doe") while keeping the legal data structured.
