Geo Heatmap — Google Maps for Odoo

Choropleth Heatmap on Google Maps — Color-coded Regions by Data Intensity

Overview

Geo Heatmap Google adds a geo_heatmap_google view type to Odoo 19 that renders geographic regions on Google Maps as a choropleth map — regions are filled with a single base color where the opacity is proportional to the aggregated data value. Higher values appear darker, lower values appear lighter.

Combines the power of Google Maps (satellite, terrain, hybrid) with the choropleth heatmap visualization. Built on top of Geo Map Core and Geo Map — Google Maps Bridge for a seamless experience.

How It Works

Step 1: Configure API Key
Go to Settings → General Settings → Geo Map — Google Maps and paste your Google Maps JavaScript API key. This is shared with the Geo Map Google Bridge module.

Step 2: See the Heatmap by Country
Navigate to Contacts and click the fire icon (🔥) for the Heatmap (Google) view. Countries are filled with varying opacity on Google Maps — darker = more data, lighter = less data. A gradient legend on the bottom-right shows the value range.

Step 3: Pick a Color & Drill Down by State
Use the color picker in the toolbar to change the heatmap color in real-time. Switch to State level for finer granularity. Switch map types (Satellite, Terrain, Hybrid) for different perspectives. Click any region to drill down and see individual records.

Adding Heatmap (Google) to Your Own Models

Define a geo_heatmap_google view in XML for any model with geographic fields:

Dependencies

This module requires:

  • Geo Map Core (geo_map_core) — Provides geocoding, boundary caching, and the base map data model
  • Geo Map — Google Maps (geo_map_google_bridge) — Provides Google Maps API key configuration and loading

You also need a Google Maps JavaScript API key from the Google Cloud Console.
