Back office staff can group customers, CRM leads, project tasks, calendar meetings, or deliveries into daily routes. Remote staff get a mobile friendly tracker to see their next stops, open Google Maps for driving directions, and complete tasks on the go. You do not need any outside software to make this work. The system plots everything neatly on a preview map so planners can visually sequence the locations for the best path.

Purpose:

The main purpose of the Map and Route Planner is to save time for both the back office and the mobile team. Usually, planning a day of visits means switching between many screens and writing down addresses. This tool integrates directly with your CRM, Projects, Calendar, and Inventory apps. For your team on the road, it removes the need to type addresses into their phone. They just click one button to navigate and another to write their completion notes.

  • Your team gets a clean mobile view showing their completed and pending tasks. It is designed to be very easy to read while on the road or at a customer location.
• One Click Google Maps Navigation:
  • Workers do not need to type addresses. They just click the Navigate button on their route tracker and it opens Google Maps on their phone with the exact driving path.
• Smart Visit Notes:
  • When a worker finishes a stop, they can type a note in a popup box. The system is smart enough to copy that note directly to the original CRM Lead, Project Task, Calendar Event, or Customer profile. Back office staff see the update immediately.
• Coordinator and Worker Roles:
  • Built in security keeps your data safe. Managers and coordinators can create and view all routes across the company. Remote workers can only see the specific routes assigned to them and cannot delete records.
• Live GPS Location:
  • If allowed by the browser, the mobile tracker updates the live location of the worker so the back office knows exactly where they are during their shift.

Prerequisites and Initial Setup

Before your team can start using the live tracking and map features, you need to make sure basic location settings are ready.

• Create Users:
  • Make sure all your mobile staff have active Odoo user accounts.
• Assign Roles:
  • Go to the Odoo Settings and give your planner the Manager role and your mobile staff the Worker role.
• Check Addresses:
  • Make sure your customers and leads have full addresses including city and zip code so the map can find them.
• Enable Location Services:
  • Staff must allow location tracking on their mobile browser when they open the route tracker for the first time.
• Live GPS Location:
  • If allowed by the browser, the mobile tracker updates the live location of the worker so the back office knows exactly where they are during their shift.

Notes

This tool requires an active internet connection for the mobile worker to open Google Maps and save their notes back to Odoo. It does not automatically calculate the absolute shortest path between fifty random stops, but you can use the preview map feature to visually arrange and sequence the locations in the exact order you want them completed.
