Chatter Visibility Control
Give administrators full control over the Odoo Chatter panel. Hide Send Message, Log Note, Activities, File Upload, Followers or the entire Chatter for specific users and models, without touching any business workflows.
1. Chatter Setting Menu
After installing the module, navigate to Settings > Technical > User Interface. You will find the Chatter Setting menu item listed there, ready to configure.
2. Chatter View Settings List
The Chatter View Settings list shows all configurations at a glance the setting name, the target model and whether the rule is active. Create a new record for each model you want to control.
3. Define Per-User Visibility Rules
Inside each setting record, add multiple rule lines. Assign one or more users to a line and independently toggle Hide Send Message, Hide Log Note, Hide Activities, Hide File Upload, Hide Mail Followers or Hide Chatter. If the same user appears in multiple lines, the rules automatically combine if a feature is hidden in any of their assigned lines, it remains hidden for them.
4. Before: Full Chatter Visible
By default, every user sees the complete Chatter panel with Send message, Log note and Activity buttons alongside the message thread. No visibility rules are applied yet.
5. After: Log Note and Activity Hidden
Once Hide Log Note and Hide Activities are enabled for a user, only the Send message button remains visible in the Chatter topbar. The user can still communicate but cannot add internal notes or schedule activities.
6. Enable Hide Chatter to Remove Everything
Checking Hide Chatter automatically enables all individual hide flags for that row. The entire Chatter panel, including the message thread, buttons and followers, will be removed for the selected users.
7. After: Entire Chatter Panel Removed
When Hide Chatter is active, the form view expands to full width. The right-panel column is completely collapsed no chatter buttons, no message thread, no empty spacing.
