Every refund request and status change is logged automatically in the record's chatter, giving you a clear, timestamped history for support and audits.

Refund Transactions and Voiding

A refund creates its own child transaction that stays in PENDING while CyberSource transmits it to the bank for settlement. During this window, you can use the Void CyberSource button to cancel the refund before it settles. Once the bank confirms the transfer, the status updates to ACCEPT and the refund can no longer be voided

Switch On Manual Capture

Turn on 'Capture Amount Manually' in the provider configuration to place a hold on the customer's card at checkout and capture the funds whenever you're ready.

Same Checkout with No Extra Steps

Customers go through the exact same checkout experience. Behind the scenes, the module automatically routes the payment as an Authorization instead of an immediate capture.

Confirmation Shows Payment Authorized

Back on the Odoo confirmation page, the customer sees a clear message that their payment has been authorized and the order is confirmed.

Authorized Transactions Ready to Act On

The transaction sits in Odoo with an Authorized status and two of Odoo's own buttons become your controls: Capture Transaction settles the hold and takes the money, while Void Transaction releases it entirely no separate CyberSource screen needed

Capturing the Funds

Clicking Capture Transaction creates a new child transaction for the settlement, which sits in PENDING while it processes. Changed your mind before it clears? A Void CyberSource button appears so you can cancel that capture

Cancel a Pending Capture

Voiding a pending capture marks that child transaction Canceled and VOIDED in CyberSource and the original authorization hold reopens it goes back to 'Authorized' so you're free to capture it again later or release it entirely.

Release the Hold Entirely

If the order is cancelled instead, clicking Void Transaction on the authorization sends a full Authorization Reversal to CyberSource, releasing the entire hold so the customer sees no charge at all.

Parent and Child Transactions Stay in Sync

The reversal creates its own child transaction, marked Canceled and REVERSED and the original authorization is updated to REVERSED at the same moment the two records never fall out of step.

Odoo Matches the Gateway Every Time

Check the Transaction History in the CyberSource Portal and you'll see the same story told in Odoo: the initial Authorization, the settlement attempt that got voided and the final Authorization Reversal gateway and Odoo always agree.
