Role-Based User Access Groups
Define roles that combine Odoo security groups, then assign users to roles so permissions stay consistent and easier to audit than editing each user by hand.
Simpler permission management
Standard Odoo assigns access through many individual groups per user. hdk_role_access_groups adds a role layer: one role holds the groups your team needs (Sales, Warehouse, Accountant, etc.), and users inherit those groups automatically.
Role templates
Create reusable roles with the same access-rights editor you know from user forms.
Bulk assignment
Attach many users to a role at once; their groups update from the role definition.
Safe for admins
Built-in checks help prevent access managers from removing their own administration rights by mistake.
Key Features
Dedicated menu
Manage roles under Settings → Users & Companies → User Roles (administrators).
User ↔ role shortcuts
Open a new user from a role with groups pre-filled, or draft a new role from a user’s current groups.
Dynamic access view
When installed apps change available groups, the role access view stays aligned with your database.
How to Use
- Go to Settings → Users & Companies → User Roles.
- Create a role, set its name, and open the Access Rights tab to pick security groups.
- Add users on the role; their groups are applied from the role.
- Optionally use New user on the role to start a user with that role and groups already set.
Workflow
Set up roles once, assign users in seconds, and keep access rights aligned with your team structure.
Open the User Roles menu
In Settings, go to Users & Companies → User Roles to see and manage all security roles.
Define the role & access rights
Create or open a role, name it, add users, and use the Access Rights tab to attach the same security groups you would set on a user form.
Users inherit the role’s groups
When a user is linked to the role, their access groups follow the role definition—no need to edit each checkbox on the user one by one.
