Workforce Shift Scheduling & Forecasting
Advanced shift scheduling with drag-and-drop, forecasting, compliance rules, and optional Field Service/Repair integration (Odoo 18)
Overview
This module delivers an end-to-end workflow for shift-based workforce management > schedule shifts faster, forecast demand, keep coverage on target, and enforce labor rules automatically. Ideal for retail, hospitality, field services, healthcare, and manufacturing.
Key Features
- Drag-and-drop Calendar scheduling (week/day/month) + Gantt planning (Enterprise)
- Demand forecasting (manual / historical / sales-based) and coverage planning
- Auto-generate shifts to meet coverage targets (availability, skills, rules aware)
- Rule-based compliance: max hours, minimum rest, overtime thresholds, consecutive days
- Employee availability + shift swap requests with approvals
- Timesheets + labor costing (planned vs actual) and compliance reporting
- Optional integrations: Field Service (industry_fsm) and Repair
Installation
- Odoo 18.0+ (Community or Enterprise).
- Dependencies: hr, hr_timesheet, hr_skills, resource.
- Optional: industry_fsm (Enterprise) and/or repair for integrations.
- Install from Apps or copy to addons path and Update Apps List (Developer mode).
Tip: If you plan to use Field Service integration, install
industry_fsm first, then upgrade this module.
Configuration
- Define Shift Rules (hard blocks vs warnings) under Shift Scheduling > Configuration > Shift Rules.
- Create reusable Shift Templates under Shift Scheduling > Configuration > Shift Templates.
- Set employee Hourly Cost, Skills, and per-employee limits in Employees > Employees.
- Create/maintain Work Locations (multiple sites) and assign them to shifts/forecasts.
- Assign security roles (Shift User, Shift Manager, Shift Administrator) from Settings > Users.
- Create forecasts under Shift Scheduling > Planning > Demand Forecast and review variance in Coverage Plan.
- Use Planning > Generate Shifts wizard to auto-create draft shifts, then publish schedules.
Security Groups
- Shift User: view own shifts, set availability, request swaps
- Shift Manager: create/assign/publish shifts, approve swaps, run generation, view team reports
- Shift Administrator: full access + rules/templates/forecasts/reports + integrations
Quick Start
- Review Shift Rules (rest periods, max hours, overtime).
- Create Shift Templates (Morning / Afternoon / Night / On-call).
- Ask employees to set Availability and maintain Skills.
- Create Demand Forecast and review Coverage Plan.
- Generate shifts > review > publish.
