Purchase Wishlist
Let employees request purchases - managers convert them to RFQs
Why This Module?
Employees know what they need to buy but shouldn’t have full purchase access. Standard Odoo has no lightweight way to collect purchase needs before they become formal requisitions or RFQs.
This module adds a Purchase Wishlist - an informal upstream step where anyone can list what they need. Managers review, approve, and convert wishlists to RFQs with one click - automatically grouped by vendor.

Features
Two Line Types
Add existing products from your catalog with auto-filled vendor and pricing, or describe nonexistent products as free text with links and descriptions.
One-Click RFQ Creation
Convert a wishlist to RFQs with one click. Lines are automatically grouped by vendor - one RFQ per supplier. A confirmation wizard shows the summary before creating.
Product Catalog
Browse and add products directly from the built-in product catalog. Vendor, unit price, and UOM are auto-filled from supplier info.
Change History
Every line change is tracked: creation, edits, and deletions. Managers can see who changed what, when, and the old vs new values.
Role-Based Access
Two security levels: Users create and manage their own wishlists. Managers see all wishlists, approve, and create RFQs.
Minimal Footprint
Wishlist-only users see the Purchase app menu but not Orders or Products. They get just what they need - nothing more.
How It Works
- Employee creates a Purchase Wishlist and adds products
- Fills in the purchase purpose and submits the wishlist
- Manager reviews the submitted wishlist
- Clicks Create RFQ - sees a summary grouped by vendor
- Confirms - one RFQ per vendor is created automatically
- Each RFQ links back to its source wishlist for traceability
