How it works
The management of local videos is seamlessly integrated into Odoo's standard media dialog,
both for video snippets and background videos. Whenever you open the Select Media dialog in the Odoo Website
Builder, a new tab Local Videos appears in
addition to the standard Video tab.
- Select the Local Videos tab
- You can choose to either upload a local video to the Odoo server or to enter an external video URL.
- You can also use the search bar to search for already uploaded videos
- The browser view lists all videos that have been uploaded and also all videos which were added via an external URL (marked with an URL tag).
Video Snippet Controls
Local videos placed on the website can be configured using the following settings to give you
full control:
- Controls: Show or hide the video controls bar
- Autoplay: Automatically start the playback
Info: Autoplay is only allowed and working in modern browsers if the video is nalso set to be muted. Otherwise autoplay will be ignored. - Muted: Mute the audio track
- Loop: Set the playback to an ednelss loop
- Poster URL: Optionally enter the URL of an image which will be shown while the video is loading
- Full width: Set the video to take the full width of it's parent container, regardless of the actual video resolution
- Center:Center non full-width videos horizontally
- Replace:Open the media dialog to replace the video by another one
Background Videos
You can use local videos as background in the exakt same way as the standard Odoo video
backgrounds.
The following configuration is automatically applied to background videos:

- Controls hidden
- Autoplay enabled
- Audio muted
- Loop enabled
- Video size set to cover the parent container
Supported Video Formats
- MP4
- WebM
- Ogg
File size limits
Depending on the Odoo platform you are using, different limits apply to the file size that
can be uploaded to the Odoo
server.
Typical limits:
- Odoo Online: 64MB
- Odoo.sh: 256MB
- On Premise: Depending on your server configuration
The 64 MiB limit on Odoo Online is a server-level restriction and not something typical users
can change via system
parameters or settings.
If you need to handle larger files (e.g., >64 MB or >256MB), the best option is to host the videos externally on a cloud storage and link to them via Add URL instead of uploading them directly into Odoo.
