Kenya eTIMS Purchase Validation
Check vendor bills against KRA eTIMS before you claim the expense
From 1 January 2026 the Kenya Revenue Authority's Income & Expense Validation Engine disallows any expense that is not backed by a compliant eTIMS tax invoice. This module matches every vendor bill in Odoo against the purchases KRA eTIMS has registered for your taxpayer PIN, and tells you whether the input VAT and the expense are safe to claim — before you post.
Registered-purchase sync
Fetches the purchases your suppliers cleared through their own control units from the eTIMS purchase endpoint and caches them, so matching runs against what KRA actually sees against your PIN.
Smart bill matching
A weighted matcher scores each bill on supplier KRA PIN, control-unit invoice number, gross and tax amounts within a configurable tolerance and date proximity — classifying it as validated, partial, unmatched or non-compliant supplier.
Deductibility gate
Optionally block posting of any vendor bill that is not eTIMS-validated, so a non-deductible expense is never claimed. Each unvalidated bill shows the input VAT plus the Tax Procedures Act s.86 penalty at risk of disallowance.
Purchase confirmation
Push a confirmed purchase back to your control unit via
insertTrnsPurchase for imports or under-reporting
suppliers, reconciling your input position with KRA.
Built on the Kenya eTIMS connector
This module extends Kenya eTIMS e-Invoice
(l10n_ke_etims_einvoice): it reuses that connector's
verified KRA PIN validator and OSCU/VSCU BYOK transport, adding
only the purchase-side endpoints and the matching engine. Your device
communication key and PIN stay on your own database and are transmitted
only to the KRA endpoint you configure.
Batch validation & automation
Validate selected vendor bills in bulk from the list view, with an aggregate at-risk-tax summary. An optional cron re-validates outstanding bills as new eTIMS purchases arrive, because suppliers often clear their sale a few days after issuing the bill. Every API call is logged.
Compatible with Odoo 18 and Odoo 19.
