Lab ISO 17025
Sample lifecycle with chain of custody, seeded test methods, measurement uncertainty, Certificate of Analysis PDF, equipment calibration, nonconformance & CAPA, proficiency z-scores and a customer portal — built for ISO/IEC 17025:2017 calibration and testing labs.
Lab ISO 17025 turns Odoo into a working back office for an accredited calibration or testing laboratory. Instead of a year-long LIMS project, you get a handful of everyday Odoo records that map directly onto the clauses your assessor asks about: sample handling and chain of custody (§7.4), selection of methods (§7.2), measurement uncertainty (§7.6), reporting of results (§7.8), equipment and calibration (§6.4), proficiency testing (§7.7) and nonconforming work with corrective action (§7.10 / §8.7). Everything is native Odoo — searchable, translatable and reportable — so the audit trail is a by-product of daily work, not extra paperwork.
Key Features
Sample lifecycle & chain of custody
Each lab.sample carries an auto-numbered reference, customer, received date, sample type, condition on receipt, storage location and assigned technician, and moves through a state machine: Received → In Test → Reviewed → Reported → Archived. Covers ISO/IEC 17025:2017 §7.4 handling of test items.
Seeded test-method catalog
The lab.test.method catalog ships with 10 common methods (pH, conductivity, density, viscosity, microbial count, heavy metals, moisture, ash content, particle size, Salmonella detection). Each records a code, standard reference, default unit, required instrument and typical duration — ISO §7.2 selection of methods.
Measurement uncertainty (k=1 → k=2)
On every lab.test.result you record the measured value (6-decimal precision) and the standard uncertainty (k=1); the module computes the expanded uncertainty (k=2, ~95% confidence) automatically and grades the result Pass / Fail / Inconclusive. Directly addresses ISO §7.6 evaluation of measurement uncertainty.
Certificate of Analysis PDF
A ready QWeb PDF Certificate of Analysis renders the sample details, every test result with its expanded uncertainty and the overall grading — the ISO §7.8 reporting-of-results deliverable your customers actually receive, generated in one click.
Equipment calibration register
Track each lab.equipment with model, serial number, manufacturer, location, responsible employee, last calibration date and interval; the next-due date is computed and a status is derived. Covers ISO §6.4 equipment control — no more calibration spreadsheet.
Traceable calibration history & reminders
Every calibration event is kept as a lab.calibration record (date, provider, certificate number, in/out of tolerance), building a full history rather than a single overwritten date. A daily ir.cron emails the responsible employee before each item's warning window, and an out-of-tolerance calibration automatically raises a nonconformance. ISO §6.4.
Nonconformance & CAPA
Log nonconforming work in lab.nonconformance and drive it through a guided workflow: containment, root-cause analysis, corrective and preventive action, effectiveness verification and closure — with overdue tracking and days-open. The workflow enforces a recorded root cause and effectiveness check before closing. ISO §7.10 & §8.7.
Proficiency testing (z-score)
Record each interlaboratory comparison in lab.proficiency.test with the scheme's assigned value, your reported value and the standard deviation for assessment. The module computes the z-score and grades it Satisfactory / Questionable / Unsatisfactory, and an unsatisfactory outcome opens a nonconformance in one click. ISO §7.7.
Customer portal
Your clients sign in to the Odoo portal to follow the status of their own samples and download the Certificate of Analysis once it is issued — each customer sees only their own records, isolated by an Odoo record rule. No back-office seat required.
Turnaround time & dashboards
Each sample records its report date and computed turnaround time, and graph & pivot views summarise turnaround by customer, results by method and nonconformance distribution by source and status — the performance monitoring an assessor expects (§8.6), straight from your live data.
Use Cases
Independent calibration & testing labs
Small and mid-size labs pursuing or maintaining ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation that need documented sample handling, uncertainty and reporting without the cost of a heavyweight LIMS.
In-house QC laboratories
Food, pharmaceutical, cosmetics and materials manufacturers running an internal QC lab that must issue Certificates of Analysis and keep an auditable method and result history inside Odoo.
Equipment-heavy operations
Any lab with a fleet of instruments that needs a single calibration-due register with automatic email reminders, so nothing slips between accreditation assessments.

Why Choose This Module
It is deliberately focused: the five ISO/IEC 17025:2017 clauses an assessor spends the most time on — §6.4 equipment, §7.2 methods, §7.4 samples, §7.6 uncertainty and §7.8 reporting — are each backed by a real Odoo model you can populate in minutes. No consultancy, no separate LIMS server, no per-seat SaaS fee. It runs on Odoo Community or Enterprise, ships in English, and every record stays yours inside your own database.
Good to Know
This is a focused ISO/IEC 17025 back-office toolkit, not a heavyweight LIMS. It does not include: direct instrument/serial data acquisition, 21 CFR Part 11 electronic signatures, automated statistical control charting, or a document-control/DMS module. Method acceptance limits are recorded and graded by the analyst rather than auto-evaluated against per-method specification tables. Everything runs on standard Odoo Community or Enterprise using only the base, mail, hr and portal apps.
