CRM LEAD CUSTOMIZATION.
This module adds four new fields to the CRM lead form — Current Resident, Representative Name, How You Reached, and Service Required For — giving sales teams a more detailed picture of each lead. It also creates two configurable master lists for traffic sources and services that administrators can manage directly from the CRM Configuration menu.
Key Features:
- Current Resident Tracking: Adds a "Current Resident" field to CRM leads allowing sales teams to record who currently occupies or uses the service location. This is particularly valuable for utilities, telecom, or property-related businesses where knowing the existing occupant helps tailor the sales approach.
- Representative Name Field: Captures the name of the person representing the lead organization, separate from the main contact. This is useful when the decision-maker differs from the initial contact person, ensuring sales reps know exactly who to address during follow-ups.
- Lead Traffic Source Management:A dedicated lead.traffic model tracks how leads found the company — whether through social media, referral, website, or other channels. This configurable dropdown helps marketing teams measure campaign effectiveness and optimize lead generation strategies.
- Service Requirement Tracking:A separate crm.service model captures what specific service the lead is interested in. Sales managers can configure available services in the CRM configuration menu, ensuring consistent service categorization across all leads and opportunities.
- Enhanced List View: Custom fields are added to the opportunity list view, giving sales managers a quick overview of all leads with their resident, representative, traffic source, and service requirement without needing to open each record individually.
- CRM Configuration Menu Integration: Both lead.traffic and crm.service models are accessible from the CRM Configuration menu, allowing administrators to manage traffic sources and service types centrally without developer intervention.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I add more traffic sources without developer help?
Yes. Traffic sources are managed through CRM → Configuration → Lead Portal menu. Any authorized user can add, edit, or remove traffic sources directly from the UI.
What is the difference between lead_traffic and crm_service?
lead_traffic tracks HOW the lead found you (marketing channel), while crm_service tracks WHAT service the lead wants. They serve different analytical purposes — one for marketing ROI, one for sales pipeline categorization.
Will these fields appear on the kanban view too?
Currently no. The module only adds fields to form and list views. Kanban view customization would require an additional xpath targeting the kanban card template.
Will existing CRM leads lose any data after installing this module?
No. The module only adds new fields to existing records. All existing lead data remains intact and the new fields will simply be empty on old records.
Can these fields be made mandatory?
Yes. Add required=True to any field in the model, or add required="1" attribute in the view xpath for UI-level validation only.
