Email Marketing Throttle (Drip Sender)
Large email campaigns (5,000â50,000+ contacts) sent all at once often trigger spam filters, rate limits and sudden traffic spikes. This module gives you precise control over the delivery pace of Odoo Email Marketing campaigns, while keeping all native KPIs.
Problem: Big Campaigns, Big Risk
- Sending thousands of emails in one shot can look like spam to providers.
- Shared SMTP or transactional services may throttle or temporarily block you.
- Hard to test gradually and react if engagement or bounce rates look bad.
Default Odoo Behavior
- The "Mail Marketing: Process queue" scheduled action sends all remaining recipients at once.
- You get excellent KPIs (Delivered, Opened, Clicked, Bounced, Opportunities, etc.).
- But there is no builtâin pacing: a single large blast can overload your mail server or harm reputation.
Our Solution: Drip Sending with Full KPIs
- Adds a Throttling section on each mailing (no change to default workflows).
- Let you define, per campaign:
- Max recipients per batch (e.g. 1, 10, 50, 100).
- Interval between batches (minutes) (e.g. 10, 30, 60).
- Reuses Odoo's own
mailing.mailingsend pipeline, including:mail.mailcreationmailing.tracestatistics- UTM tracking and
link.trackerclicks
- All standard dashboards and statistics stay 100% accurate.
Key Features
- Perâmailing throttle toggle: enable throttling only on selected campaigns.
- Configurable batch size: send 1, 10, 50, 100+ recipients per batch.

Configuration & Usage
- Install the module and make sure "Email Marketing" (mass_mailing) is installed.
- Open any Email Marketing campaign (
mailing.mailingwith type = Email). - Go to the Settings tab → Throttling group.
- Enable Throttle sending.
- Set:
- Max recipients per batch, for example: 1.
- Interval between batches (minutes), for example: 10.
- Use the normal Send or Schedule buttons.
With the example above, Odoo will send 1 email every 10 minutes for that campaign, using the standard scheduled action "Mail Marketing: Process queue" (now running every minute).
