Just install the module, and the new fields will automatically appear on your Asset form view. Requires standard Accounting access rights.
2. Operating Manual
How to use the new fields in your daily workflow:
Workflow A: Automating from Vendor Bills
- Create a Vendor Bill for a purchase (e.g., 5 Laptops).
- Odoo automatically creates the Asset(s) in Draft state based on the Asset Model linked to the unexpected account.
- Open the Draft Asset. You will see the new fields Brand, Model, Series empty.
- Action: Fill these fields BEFORE confirming the asset to ensure the depreciation board and reports carry this information from day one.
- Click Compute Depreciation and then Confirm.
Search & Filter
In the Assets List view:
- Use the Search Bar to find an asset by Serial Number directly.
- Use Group By > Brand to see a breakdown of assets by manufacturer.
Importing Data
You can bulk update existing assets using standard Odoo Import (XLSX/CSV).
Fields to map: asset_brand,
asset_model, asset_series.
