Run the full lifecycle of salary advances and personal loans inside Odoo. Employees request their own loans, managers approve with chatter tracking and activities, and a single click disburses the money with a posted journal entry. An equal monthly installment schedule is generated automatically and repaid straight from payslips (free payroll bridge) or through a manual repayment wizard until the loan closes itself.

What this module does

Spreadsheets and side agreements make employee loans hard to track and impossible to reconcile. This app puts the whole process on rails: configurable loan types with limits, a clear approval workflow with a full audit trail, automatic installment plans, and accounting that always matches reality, because every disbursement and repayment is a posted journal entry. Employees see and request only their own loans, while dedicated Loan Officer and Loan Manager groups manage the portfolio, with a loan smart button right on the employee form.

● Configurable loan types

Salary Advance and Personal Loan come seeded, and you can add your own. Each type sets a maximum amount, a maximum number of installments, the disbursement journal and the loan receivable account, so requests stay inside policy by design.

● Workflow with a real audit trail

Requests move through draft, submitted, approved, disbursed and closed (plus refused and cancelled), with every step tracked in the chatter and activities assigned to managers. The equal monthly schedule is generated automatically, the last line absorbs rounding, and a postpone action shifts the remaining installments when an employee needs breathing room.

● Accounting and payroll built in

Disbursing posts a real journal entry (debit loan receivable, credit bank or cash). The repayment wizard allocates payments across the oldest installments, supports partial amounts and closes the loan automatically when settled. With Odoo Payroll, the free bridge module deducts due installments on payslips.

How it works

From request to fully repaid, without leaving Odoo.

Set up loan types (or use the seeded Salary Advance and Personal Loan): amount and installment limits, disbursement journal and loan receivable account.
An employee requests a loan: they see and create only their own requests, pick a type and number of installments, and submit for approval.
A Loan Officer or Manager approves (or refuses) the request; every state change is tracked in the chatter and managers get activities to act on.
Disburse with one click: a journal entry is posted (debit loan receivable, credit bank or cash) and the equal monthly installment schedule is generated, with rounding absorbed by the last line.
Installments are deducted from payslips automatically via the free payroll bridge, or recorded through the manual repayment wizard, which allocates across the oldest installments and supports partial payments.
The loan closes automatically when fully settled; if needed, the postpone action shifts all remaining installments forward.

Note: The companion module Employee Loans & Advances - Payroll is free and installs automatically when Odoo Payroll is present. Due installments appear as a Loan Installment input and a deduction line on the payslip, and are marked back on the loan when the slip is validated.

One record carries the whole story: type, amount, state, chatter history and the equal monthly installment plan generated on approval, with the last line absorbing rounding.

Define each loan type once: maximum amount, maximum installments, the disbursement journal and the loan receivable account. Requests are validated against these limits automatically.

With the free payroll bridge installed, due installments appear as a Loan Installment input and a deduction line on the payslip; validating the slip marks them repaid on the loan.
