POS Require Customer

By default, Odoo POS lets a cashier pay and validate an order without ever choosing a customer. This module adds a per-shop switch that blocks payment until a customer is set on the order, so every ticket is tied to a real contact for history, loyalty and invoicing.

What This Module Does

A small front-office guard that makes sure every sale is linked to a customer, enforced at the exact moment before payment starts.

● Customer required to pay
When the setting is on, an order with no customer cannot be validated. The cashier is stopped before payment and asked to select a customer first.
● A real block, not a hint
The check runs at the pre-payment step, so validation genuinely aborts. A clear, translatable dialog tells the cashier what to do next.
● Per-shop control
A single switch in POS Settings turns the rule on or off, per shop. Enforce it where it matters and leave fast retail counters untouched.

How it works

Turn it on for a shop and the rule is enforced. Nothing else about ringing up a sale changes.

  1. Install the module.
  2. Go to Point of Sale > Settings > “Require customer before payment” and enable it for the shop.
  3. In the POS, if the cashier tries to pay an order with no customer, a dialog appears and validation is blocked until a customer is chosen.
Note: Lightweight and front-office only. It stores no new data; it simply reads the customer already on the order and stops validation when none is set.
