Auto Employee Barcode

This module installs a pre-configured sequence rule that automatically stamps the
Barcode field (hr.employee.barcode) on every new
employee record with a unique identifier in the format EBRC000001,
using 6-digit zero-padded numbering with no separator dash.
The compact, dash-free format is optimized for physical barcode scanners used in HR kiosks, attendance terminals, and warehouse access control — ensuring the generated code scans cleanly without ambiguity from punctuation characters.
The rule is safe by design: if an employee already has a barcode set, it will not be overwritten. Only employees with a blank barcode field are stamped at creation time.
How to Use
Install mjb_sequence_rule (Sequence Rule Engine) if not already installed.
This is the engine that powers all mjb_seq_* rule packs.
Install this module — Auto Employee Barcode.
Go to Settings → Technical → Sequence Rules, find the rule named Auto Employee Barcode (EBRCXXXXXX), and toggle Enable.
Scope & Limitations
- Does not backfill existing employee records — only new employees created after the rule is enabled receive an auto-generated barcode.
- Does not overwrite a barcode that has already been manually entered on an employee record.
- The rule is installed disabled by default — it must be explicitly enabled from Settings → Technical → Sequence Rules before it takes effect.
