Auto Lot Number
Automatically generate a unique sequential lot number for every new stock lot created in Odoo Inventory.

This module installs a pre-configured sequence rule that automatically stamps the
Lot/Serial Number name field (stock.lot.name) on every
new lot record with a unique identifier in the format LOT-000001,
incrementing with each new lot created.
The rule is safe by design: if a lot already has a name assigned — whether entered manually, imported, or generated by another process — it will not be overwritten. Only lots with a blank name are stamped.
Streamlines lot creation in receiving, manufacturing, and inventory adjustment workflows by eliminating the need to type or remember lot naming conventions.
How to Use
Install mjb_sequence_rule (Sequence Rule Engine) if not already installed.
This is the engine that powers all mjb_seq_* rule packs.
Install this module — Auto Lot Number.
Go to Settings → Technical → Sequence Rules, find the rule named Auto Lot Number (LOT-XXXXXX), and toggle Enable.
Scope & Limitations
- Does not backfill existing lot records — only new lots created after the rule is enabled are stamped.
- Does not overwrite a lot name that has already been entered or generated by another system.
- Does not enforce lot uniqueness per product — standard Odoo lot uniqueness rules still apply separately.
