Manufacturing Quality Approval Gates
Let QA approve before an operation starts and after it finishes â right inside your Manufacturing flow.
This module turns any Quality Control Point into a real QA approval gate on a work order. Operators can no longer start â or move past â an operation until the Quality team has signed off. It plugs directly into the standard Odoo Manufacturing & Quality apps, in both the backend and the Shop Floor.
Two Approval Gates, One Field
Open any Quality Control Point and set the new QA Approval Gate field. That single choice decides how the generated quality check behaves on the shop floor.
▶ Approval to Start Operation
The work order cannot be started until the QA check is passed. The operator sees the operation held as âAwaiting QA Approvalâ. QA approves simply by passing the quality check â no extra screens.
Passing the check approves without auto-starting: the operation stays To Do so the operator starts it themselves when ready.
✔ Approval After Finishing Operation
The operation can be finished freely and the produced item is handed over to QA. Its check then gates the next operation â and the closing of the Manufacturing Order â until QA approves it.
Perfect for in-process control: produce, hand to Quality, and only the downstream steps wait for the verdict.
Approve Before Start
When a âstartâ gate is pending, trying to launch the operation is blocked with a clear message naming exactly which quality check must be approved first. This is enforced both in the backend and on the Shop Floor.
Strict Operation Sequencing
Operations must run one after the other. A work order cannot start until every earlier operation of the same Manufacturing Order is finished â and its produced item has cleared any âafter finishâ QA approval. No skipping ahead.

A new Start Readiness badge on the work order list tells operators exactly why an operation can or cannot start:
Awaiting QA Approval a QA âstartâ check still has to pass.
Waiting Previous Operation an earlier operation is not finished, or its item awaits QA.
How It Integrates With Manufacturing
1. Configure
On a Quality Control Point, pick the operation (Step) and set the QA Approval Gate â start or after finish.
2. Produce
Odoo generates the quality checks per work order. Gates are enforced on Start, record production, Mark as Done, and on the Shop Floor.
3. Approve
QA passes the check to approve. Pausing and finishing an operation always stay free; only starting and closing are gated.
