How It Works

Create a Template (optional) — go to Accounting → Deferred Expenses → Templates and save your default journal and accounts.

Create a Deferred Expense — enter the total amount, start date, end date, and optionally link it to a vendor bill line.

Apply a Template or set accounts manually — choose the general ledger journal, prepaid/asset account, and expense account.

Confirm — recognition lines are generated automatically with pro-rata amounts for every calendar month in the period.

Sit back — the daily cron posts each line when its date arrives. You can also post lines manually at any time.

Close — once all lines are posted, mark the record as Closed to keep your list clean.
