The Problem This Module Solves
🏷️ Create the Asset
Go to Accounting › Assets › Asset Tracker. Click New and enter the asset name, purchase date, and original value.
📐 Set Residual Value & Useful Life
Enter the residual value and the useful life in years. These two figures are what the straight-line depreciation calculation is based on.
🧮 Depreciation Calculated Automatically
Annual depreciation and current book value are computed automatically the moment you save — no manual spreadsheet math required.
📈 Track Accumulated Depreciation
As each period passes, accumulated depreciation updates on the asset record, always reflecting an accurate, current book value.
✅ Mark Fully Depreciated
Once the asset reaches the end of its useful life, update its status to closed — keeping your fixed asset register clean and accurate.

Not yet — the module currently calculates straight-line depreciation only. Other methods may be added in a future update.
QCan I link a tracked asset to its purchase invoice?
Asset records are tracked independently and aren't yet linked to a specific vendor bill, though you can reference the invoice number in the asset name or notes.
QDoes it post depreciation journal entries automatically?
Not automatically — the tracker calculates and displays depreciation figures; posting matching journal entries is a manual accounting step.
