This Odoo Sales extension by Odonity gives complete control over who can apply what discount on sales order lines — with a smooth, non-blocking approval workflow that lets salespersons save freely but requires manager approval before confirming any order with over-limit discounts.
Overview
Salespersons can enter any discount and save the order at any time. When any line exceeds their configured limit, an order-level warning banner appears with a justification field and a single "Request Discount Approval" button. The order's assigned sales manager receives a notification email, reviews all highlighted over-limit lines, can set a per-line approved discount as a counter-offer, and then approves or rejects the entire order in one action. Every step is permanently logged in the order chatter.

Installation
- Copy odnt_discount_limit into your Odoo custom addons directory.
- Restart the Odoo server.
- Activate Developer Mode.
- Go to Apps → Update App List.
- Search Sales Discount Limit Pro and install.
Configuration
- Go to Sales → Configuration → Settings.
- Find the Discount Limit Control section (By Odonity).
- Set max discount % for each group and save.
- Go to Settings → Users, assign each user to the appropriate Discount group.
- Ensure each salesperson has a Manager set on their user profile — this determines who receives the approval notification email.
Workflow Summary
- Salesperson enters discount and saves (always allowed).
- If over-limit, amber warning banner appears with justification field.
- Salesperson enters reason and clicks Request Discount Approval.
- Order state → Pending. Email sent to assigned sales manager.
- Manager opens order, reviews amber lines, optionally sets approved % per line.
- Manager clicks Approve or Reject.
- Approve → discounts locked, salesperson confirms order normally.
- Reject → salesperson notified, adjusts discounts manually, resubmits if needed.
