Geodis Shipping Odoo Integration
Based on the latest Geodis Espace Client REST Web Services
Region: France & International Freight Delivery
Geodis is a global logistics provider and market leader in freight, package, and parcel transport across France and international markets.
This integration module automates your Geodis shipping operations directly from Odoo. Configure API credentials, map logistics services (Messagerie, Express, Overseas), utilize local fixed price or grid rules for rate calculation, book shipments dynamically on picking validation, and log label attachments (PDF or ZPL) in the chatter.
Key Features
-
Pricing Integration (Grid Rules & Fixed Prices)
Since Geodis does not support real-time API rating queries, Odoo evaluates local fixed pricing or custom weight and country destination grid rules to calculate shipping costs.
-
Logistics & Product Options
Fully compatible with multiple Geodis services: Messagerie (MES), Express (P30), Overseas (ONDS), and service options like Standard Road (RDW) or Express (EXP).
-
Automatic Label Generations
Validating delivery picking transfers registers the shipment on the Geodis REST API. Odoo downloads the label file and logs it directly to the picking chatter.
-
Dynamic Format Detection (PDF & ZPL)
Odoo automatically detects the format of the labels returned by the API (PDF for laser sheets, ZPL for thermal barcode printers) and assigns correct file extensions, resolving corruption/preview issues.
-
Scheduled Departure Dates
Departure/collection dates are dynamically mapped to the picking's Scheduled Date, avoiding Geodis non-working day validation issues (e.g. shipping on weekends).
-
Return Shipments
Generate return pickings. Address nodes are automatically swapped and submitted to the API to retrieve return labels.
-
Tracking & Consignment Numbers
Stores the official Geodis Tracking Number (`noSuivi`) and Receipt Number (`noRecepisse`) on pickings, and provides public links to track carrier status.
Setup & Screenshots
Enter your Geodis client credentials (ID, API Key, Agency Code, Customer Account), map your product options, and select output label configurations.
Select the Geodis shipping method on a Sales Order. The system computes rates locally based on your configured fixed price or pricing grid rules.
The calculated shipping cost is added as a delivery line item in the Sales Order.
Package products on the stock picking. Dimensonal properties and parcel weights are formatted to meet the Geodis booking requirements.
Validating the picking maps the scheduled collection date, registers the shipment payload on the Geodis API, and retrieves tracking identifiers.
The label payload (ZPL for barcode printing, PDF for standard sheets) is dynamically downloaded with the correct file extension and attached to the picking chatter.
A direct link to Geodis public tracking page is generated on the picking form, allowing customers to easily track their delivery.
Easily void shipments using the Cancel button. This deletes tracking numbers on the picking and posts a log message in the chatter.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Does the Geodis API support real-time rate queries?
No, Geodis REST APIs do not support real-time rating queries. Standard Odoo fixed pricing or pricing grid rules must be configured on the shipping carrier form.
Why are some labels saved as .zpl and others as .pdf?
If Geodis returns a thermal sticker format, the binary data is text/ZPL code. Odoo dynamically detects this and saves it as `.zpl` so it can be sent to thermal printers. Laser sheets are saved as standard `.pdf` files.
What happens if Geodis rejects validation because of Sunday departure?
Geodis validation requires a working day. The departure date is dynamically retrieved from the picking's Scheduled Date. Adjust the Scheduled Date on the stock picking to a working day and re-try validation.
