Purpose

The main purpose of the Mobile Connect widget is to eliminate context switching and manual data entry. By default, transferring mobile data (like WhatsApp chats, field photos, or receipts) to Odoo requires third-party cloud apps, emails, or physical cables. This tool bridges that gap by putting your actual phone inside your Odoo screen, allowing you to seamlessly control it and inject data straight into your ERP.

Prerequisites and Initial Setup

Before you can connect your phone to Odoo for the first time, you must enable Developer Options on your Android device. Follow these exact steps to prepare your phone:

Limitations

This tool is designed specifically for Android devices; iOS (iPhones/iPads) are not supported. The initial setup requires "Developer Options" and "Wireless Debugging" to be enabled on the Android device. The phone and the PC running the Odoo server must be on the same local network (Wi-Fi/LAN) for the wireless connection to succeed. Highly complex 3D mobile games or DRM protected video streaming apps (like Netflix or banking apps) may show a black screen during mirroring due to native Android security policies. Audio forwarding is not supported; only visual mirroring and file transfers are handled.
