Pick an exact Reminder Due Date and time on any activity to be notified precisely when you need to act — independent of the activity deadline.

User guide

Install the module, set a reminder date and type when you schedule an activity, and let Odoo email or ping you at exactly the right moment.

1. Install the module

  1. Open Apps, remove the Apps filter, and search OE Activity Reminder.
  2. Click Install. The standard Discuss (mail) app is required and installed automatically as a dependency.

2. Add a reminder to an activity

  1. On any record, click Schedule Activity (or open an existing activity).
  2. In the Reminder section, set the Reminder Due Date — the date and time you want to be notified.
  3. Choose a Reminder Type: Email, Popup, or leave it empty to receive both.
  4. Save the activity. That's it — the reminder is queued.

3. How reminders are sent

  • A scheduled action runs every 15 minutes and sends any reminder whose due date has passed.
  • Email reminders arrive at the assigned user's email address; popup reminders appear in their Odoo inbox (bell icon).
  • Each reminder is sent only once, and activities that are marked done or cancelled are never reminded.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How is the reminder different from the activity deadline?
The activity deadline is the day the work is due. The Reminder Due Date is a separate date and time at which the module actively notifies the assigned user, so you can be reminded ahead of — or on — the deadline.
2. What happens if I leave the Reminder Type empty?
Both channels are used — the user receives an Email and a Popup inbox notification. Pick a single type only if you want just one of them.
3. Will the popup appear even if I disabled inbox notifications?
Yes. The popup reminder is forced to the Odoo inbox for the assigned user regardless of their personal notification preferences, so an important reminder is never silently dropped.
4. How soon after the reminder time is it sent?
A scheduled action checks for due reminders every 15 minutes, so a reminder is delivered within that window after its due date and time. You can adjust the interval in Settings > Technical > Scheduled Actions.
5. Do completed activities still send reminders?
No. When an activity is marked done or cancelled, Odoo removes it, so it is never picked up by the reminder job. Each pending reminder is also sent only once.
6. Is it compatible with Odoo 19?
Yes. This module targets Odoo 19.0 and works on both Community and Enterprise editions. It depends only on the standard mail app — no third-party or external integration is required.
