User guide

Install the module, assign access rights, and use the Clear Data wizard to safely remove unwanted business data.

1. Install the module

  1. Copy the oe_data_cleaner folder into your Odoo addons directory.
  2. Go to Apps → Update Apps List.
  3. Search for Data Cleaner and click Install.

2. Grant Access Rights

  1. Go to Settings → Users & Companies → Users.
  2. Open the user you want to allow.
  3. Set Data Cleanup Manager role under the Data Cleanup section.

3. Open Clear Data

  1. Go to Settings / Administration → Clear Data.
  2. Click Clear Data to launch the wizard.

4. Select Data to Remove

  1. Tick the categories you want to clean (Sales, Purchases, Inventory, etc.).
  2. Or tick All Data to select everything at once.
  3. Only categories from installed apps are shown.

5. Confirm & Execute

  1. Read the warning carefully and ensure you have a recent backup.
  2. Type DELETE in the box.
  3. Click Clear Data and confirm the final pop-up.

6. Review Results & Logs

  • Check the summary of deleted and skipped records.
  • View full history in Clear Data → Cleanup Logs.
  • Users and companies are always protected.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Which data categories can I clean?
Sales orders, purchase orders, inventory transfers, projects & tasks, customers & vendors, manufacturing orders, and Bills of Materials.
2. Will my users and companies be deleted?
No. The module never deletes users, companies, or core system settings, so you can continue using the database after cleanup.
3. Who can access the Data Cleaner?
Only users assigned the Data Cleanup Manager role can see and use the tool.
4. Is the data removal permanent?
Yes. Deleted data cannot be recovered. Always take a full database backup before running any cleanup.
5. Does it work only on specific Odoo versions?
The module is designed for Odoo 19 (Community & Enterprise) and works with any installed standard apps.
6. Are there any dependencies?
No third-party dependencies. Extra options appear automatically only when the related Odoo apps are installed.
