Key Features

Ramadan working hours, Gulf weekend rules, overtime caps with violation flags, OT rate matrix and compliance reporting on attendance

Ramadan Working Hours

Define a Ramadan period per year with reduced daily hours (e.g. 6 hours). Auto-swap working schedules — original hours are safely saved so you can revert after Ramadan ends.

Gulf Weekend Rules

Set the weekend per company — Friday–Saturday, Saturday–Sunday, Friday only or Thursday–Friday. Apply the rule to rebuild working schedules with the right days off.

OT Caps & Violation Flags

Set standard daily hours and a maximum daily overtime cap per company. Every attendance shows overtime hours, day type, and a violation flag when OT exceeds the limit.

OT Rate Matrix

Maintain a list of overtime rates by day type — normal day (125%), weekend (150%) and public holiday (200%). Each rate links to a work entry type for accurate tracking.

Payroll Integration

Select one or more attendances and use Process Overtime to send OT pay into payslips as extra inputs. Without payroll, a note is added so the amount can be paid manually.

Compliance Report

Choose a date range and optional departments, then print a PDF that groups overtime by employee and highlights who exceeded the legal overtime limits — perfect for audits.

Auto Ramadan Scheduler

A daily background job applies the Ramadan hours automatically on the start date and reverts them on the end date — no manual intervention needed once the period is configured.

Smart Day Type Detection

Every attendance record automatically detects the day type — normal working day, weekend, or public holiday (from the company calendar's global time off). OT rates adjust accordingly.

Multi-Company Ready

Different companies can have different weekend types, standard hours and overtime caps. Ramadan periods and overtime rates are company-specific too.

User guide

Install the module, configure your Gulf weekend and overtime caps, set up Ramadan periods, and let the system enforce working time compliance — with automatic violation flags, rate-based OT processing and printable compliance reports.

1. Install the module

  1. Open Apps, remove the Apps filter, and search Ramadan & Gulf Working Time Compliance.
  2. Click Install. The hr, resource, hr_attendance, and hr_work_entry modules are installed automatically.

2. Configure company settings

  1. Go to Settings > Attendances and configure the Weekend Days (Friday–Saturday, Saturday–Sunday, Friday only or Thursday–Friday).
  2. Set Standard Daily Hours (e.g. 8 hours) and Maximum Daily Overtime (e.g. 2 hours). Any attendance exceeding this cap gets a violation flag.
  3. Click Apply Weekend Rule to rebuild selected working schedules so the chosen weekend days are days off.

3. Set up overtime rates

  1. Go to Working Time > Configuration > Overtime Rates. Default rates for normal (125%), weekend (150%) and public holiday (200%) are pre-loaded.
  2. Optionally link each rate to a Work Entry Type for tracking in the attendance calendar.
  3. On each employee (HR Settings tab), set the Overtime Hourly Rate so monetary amounts can be calculated.

4. Configure Ramadan hours

  1. Go to Working Time > Ramadan Periods and click Create.
  2. Set the Start Date, End Date and Reduced Daily Hours (typically 6 hours).
  3. Select the Working Schedules to adjust and click Apply. The original hours are saved automatically.
  4. After Ramadan, click Revert to restore the normal hours. A daily cron job can also do this automatically.

5. Day-to-day attendance

  1. Employees check in and out as usual in Attendances.
  2. Each attendance record automatically shows Overtime Hours, Day Type (normal, weekend, public holiday), OT Amount, and a Violation Flag when overtime exceeds the cap.
  3. Weekend and public holiday days are detected automatically from the working schedule and company calendar.

6. Process overtime to payroll

  1. Select one or more attendance records in the list and choose Process Overtime from the action menu.
  2. Review the overtime hours, rate and calculated amount. Confirm to proceed.
  3. If a payroll app is installed, the amount is added to the employee's draft payslip as an extra input. Without payroll, a note is created for manual payment.
  4. Optionally, a work entry is also created for tracking overtime hours in the calendar.

7. Run the compliance report

  1. Go to Working Time > Overtime > Compliance Report.
  2. Choose a date range and optionally filter by departments.
  3. Click Print to generate a PDF that groups overtime by employee and highlights anyone who exceeded the legal overtime limits — perfect for audits and labour inspections.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do Ramadan hours work?
You create a Ramadan Period for a specific year (start date, end date, reduced hours). Select the working schedules to adjust and click Apply. The system saves the original hours, swaps in the Ramadan hours, and a daily cron job can apply and revert automatically on the right dates.
2. How are overtime violations detected?
Each company sets a maximum daily overtime cap (e.g. 2 hours). When an attendance's overtime exceeds that cap, a violation flag icon appears on the record. The compliance report also highlights all violations for a given period.
3. What rates are in the OT rate matrix?
The module ships with three default rates aligned with Gulf labor law: 125% for normal days, 150% for weekends, and 200% for public holidays. You can add, edit or remove rates as needed, and link each to a work entry type.
4. How is overtime sent to payroll?
Select attendances in the list and use Process Overtime. If a payroll app is installed, the OT amount is added to the employee's draft payslip as an extra input. Without a payroll app, a note is created so HR can pay the amount manually. A work entry can also be created for calendar tracking.
5. Which weekend patterns are supported?
Four patterns: Friday & Saturday (most GCC), Saturday & Sunday (some free zones), Friday only, and Thursday & Friday. Each company can have a different pattern. The Apply Weekend Rule tool rebuilds working schedules to make your chosen days off.
6. Can I see violations before they happen?
The violation flag appears on each attendance record as soon as the overtime is calculated. Use the Compliance Report to get a consolidated view over any date range. The report highlights employees who exceeded the legal limit so you can act before labour inspections.
7. Is it compatible with Odoo 19?
Yes. This module targets Odoo 19.0 and works on both Community and Enterprise editions. It depends on the standard hr, resource, hr_attendance, and hr_work_entry modules — no third-party or external integration is required.
