User Guide
This guide explains how to use the Google Tag Manager Integration module.
1. Navigating to the Settings
The module's settings are located within the Website app.
- Navigate to Website > Configuration > Settings.
- On the settings page, find the Google Tag Manager section.
2. Enabling and Configuring GTM
You can activate the integration and add your Container ID here.
- Click the checkbox for Enable Google Tag Manager.
- A new field for Container ID will appear. Enter your GTM Container ID (e.g., GTM-XXXXXXX).
- Click the Save button to apply the changes.
Once saved, the Google Tag Manager scripts will be automatically added to your website's header and body, allowing you to manage tags from your GTM account.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is Google Tag Manager (GTM)?
GTM is a free tool from Google that allows you to manage and deploy marketing tags (snippets of code or tracking pixels) on your website without having to modify the code. This includes tags for analytics, advertising, and other marketing services.
2. Where can I find my GTM Container ID?
You can find your Container ID (e.g., GTM-XXXXXXX) in your Google Tag Manager account. It is visible in the top navigation bar next to your account name.
3. Do I need to be a developer to use this module?
No, this module is designed to be a no-code solution. After the module is installed, you only need to enter your Container ID in the settings, and the module handles the technical integration for you.
4. Where is the GTM script placed on my website?
The module automatically adds the main GTM script to the <head> of your website and the optional <noscript> iframe just after the opening <body> tag, following Google's recommended installation instructions.
5. Can I use this for multiple websites?
This module is configured at the company level. If your Odoo instance has multiple companies and corresponding websites, you can configure a different GTM container for each company in its respective settings.
6. Does this module support e-commerce tracking?
Yes. The module is designed to automatically push customer information, including their email and phone number, to the Google Tag Manager data layer. This enables you to set up enhanced e-commerce tracking in your GTM and Google Analytics accounts.
