Overview

PDF Preview is a productivity enhancement module that provides a document preview experience before printing reports in Odoo. It allows users to review generated PDF reports directly in the browser before downloading or printing them. The module integrates seamlessly with existing Odoo Print actions and helps users verify document content and formatting before taking further actions.

This improves document validation, reduces accidental print operations, and provides a more user-friendly reporting experience while preserving the standard Odoo printing workflow when disabled.

User Configuration

PDF Preview is controlled through a user preference setting. Each user can independently enable or disable the preview functionality based on their requirements.

• Go to Settings >> Users & Companies >> Users
• Open the required user
• Navigate to the Preferences tab
• Locate the option Enable PDF Preview
• Enable the checkbox to activate PDF Preview

Note: Users with PDF Preview disabled will continue using the standard Odoo print flow.

How It Works

1. PDF Preview Disabled

When PDF Preview is disabled for a user, reports follow the standard Odoo behavior and are directly downloaded or opened without showing a preview screen.

2. Enable PDF Preview

Enable the PDF Preview option from the user's Preferences tab to activate preview functionality for report printing.

Once PDF Preview is enabled, clicking any Print action will generate the report and open it in preview mode instead of directly downloading the document.

3. PDF Preview Screen

The preview screen displays the generated PDF directly in the browser, allowing users to review document content, formatting, and layout before printing or downloading the report.
