PHASE 1 · ONE-TIME SETUP
Step 1 · Connect GoCardless & Turn On Real-Time Updates
Paste your GoCardless access token, choose Sandbox or Live, then copy the Webhook URL shown on the form into your GoCardless dashboard and paste the secret back. Odoo now receives instant payment updates.
Step 2 · Publish & Go Live
Set the provider to Published. GoCardless (Pay by Bank) now shows up as a payment option on your storefront, customer portal and invoice pay pages.
PHASE 2 · CUSTOMER PAYS
Step 3 · Customer Picks GoCardless at Checkout
Your customer reaches the standard Odoo payment screen and selects GoCardless (Pay by Bank) from the list of payment options.
Step 4 · Choose the Bank in the Drop-in
A secure GoCardless popup opens right on your page. The customer picks their bank, no card numbers, no leaving your store.

PHASE 3 · INSIDE ODOO & GOCARDLESS
Step 7 · Transaction Updated in Odoo
The matching Odoo transaction updates the second the payment settles at GoCardless, with no manual work from you.
Same Payment on the GoCardless Dashboard
The completed payment appears in your GoCardless dashboard with the same reference and amount as the Odoo record, so finance can match them end to end.
Step 8 · Invoice Auto-Reconciled
The invoice or sale order is matched to the payment and marked paid automatically. Clean books, zero data entry.

Open the transaction and click Refund. Choose the full amount or a partial amount, and your accounting picks up the refund automatically.

What is Instant Bank Pay, in plain words?
It is a way for your customer to pay you with a direct bank transfer, straight from their bank account. Instead of typing card details, they pick their bank and confirm the payment, and the money reaches you through Faster Payments (UK) or SEPA (Europe). It is fast, secure, and usually cheaper for you than card fees.
Is this compatible with Odoo Enterprise and Community?
Yes. Fully compatible with Odoo Enterprise (On-premise and Odoo.SH) and Odoo Community. Not compatible with Odoo Online (SaaS) as it does not support third-party apps.
Which currencies and countries are supported?
Instant Bank Pay works in GBP for customers in the United Kingdom (via Faster Payments) and in EUR for customers across the Eurozone (via SEPA Credit Transfer). If a customer is paying in a currency that is not supported, GoCardless simply will not appear as an option for that order.
Do I need to be PCI compliant to use this?
No. There are no card details at all. The customer approves the payment inside their own bank, so nothing sensitive is ever typed on your site or stored in Odoo. GoCardless handles the security and the bank connection for you.
Can I test before going live?
Absolutely. Set the provider to Sandbox, enter your GoCardless sandbox token, and test the whole flow with GoCardless test banks. Switch to Live with your real token whenever you are ready, no code changes needed.
How are refunds handled?
Open any successful transaction in Odoo and click Refund. You can refund the full amount or a partial amount, and the refund is logged against the original payment in your accounting. Refunds need to be enabled on your GoCardless account first, which is a quick one-time setting.
Some payments take a while to confirm. Will my invoice still get marked paid?
Yes. UK payments usually confirm in seconds. Some euro payments can take longer to finalise. Either way you are covered: the module checks the status right after checkout, keeps a real-time link with GoCardless, and runs an automatic sync every hour until the payment clears. There is also a manual Refresh button if you want to check it right away.
Do I have to set up the webhook?
It is optional, but recommended. With the webhook on, GoCardless pushes updates to Odoo the instant they happen. Without it, Odoo still keeps everything current through its automatic checks and the hourly sync, so nothing gets left behind.
Will the same customer be added twice in GoCardless?
No. When a buyer pays again, the module recognises them and reuses their existing GoCardless customer, so your customer list stays clean instead of filling up with duplicates.
Do I get free support after purchase?
