Accept Payment On Your Website

You can configure PesaPal to receive payment for your products and services published on your website. Customers will be redirected to PesaPal Payment Portal to make payment using available payment methods such as MPESA, Airtel Money, Tigo Pesa, Equity Bank, Coop Bank and many more. These options will vary depending on your country. PesaPal is currently available in more than 6 countries in Africa and rapidly expanding to more regions

Once Payment is received and validated by PesaPal, this module will automatically reconcile and confirm the Sales Order based on Transaction details received from PesaPal. The transaction details are securely transmitted between your Odoo website and PesaPal payment portal. This module was carefully designed as per the guidelines given in PesaPal API documentation and Odoo Payment Provider design rules to ensure top performance and maximum security.

Accept Payment On Customer Portal

Give your customers the convenience to pay for their invoices directly from their customer portal (this needs to be enabled in Odoo). Once they login to their portal, they can choose to pay for their due invoices by selecting PesaPal method. They will then be re-directed to PesaPal payment portal to make the payment. Once the payment is done, they will be automatically re-directed back to their portal where they can confirm that the invoice has been marked as Paid after successful PesaPal Transaction.

Instant Payment Notification (IPN)

PesaPal provides for Instant Payment Notification (IPN) function. Your system will be notified whenever there is a change in transaction status. This module will be listening to such notifications from PesaPal and immediately reconcile the sales order accordingly. If for some reason you cannot use IPN, this module provides for automatic querying of PesaPal to retrieve the latest transaction status. The time interval between queries and the number of queries/retries is configured in the settings. We do recommend IPN function as it is more efficient.

Processing Fees

You can charge processing/handling fees for every order placed by customer. The fee is computed and automatically added to the amount of the order before sending the payment details to PesaPal. The method used to compute the fees is configured in the settings. You can put a flat fee or a percentage of the order amount or define a formula based on other parameters such as country of origin of the customer, your country, currency, time of the day or even the PesaPal account that you are using. Charging of processing fees is disabled by default and you will need to enable and configure this in the settings.

Multiple Payment Methods

Depending on your country of origin, PesaPal will avail all supported methods of payment to your customer during payment. For example in Kenya, the customer will have about 8 different methods to choose from such as VISA, Mastercard, American Express, M-PESA, Airtel Money, Equity Bank, Coop Bank or PesaPal Wallet itself. This module will not limit the customer to one or some few methods but all available methods. You can visit pesapal.com for latest info available methods in your country. This module also supports multi-currency environment so that payment can be made in a currency convenient to your customer. PesaPal will handle exchange rates during payment

Test vs Production/Live Mode

When you install this module for the first time, the PesaPal payment gateway will be put in Test mode to allow you to do some testing before going live. If you want to test it first, you will require the Test Consumer Key and Test Consumer Secret both issued by PesaPal (https://demo.pesapal.com). This module supports both Test Mode and Live mode without having to change anything in the configuration except the credentials. This will enable you to perform your tests within a short time and quickly switch to Live mode in a click of a button.

Installation

This Module is a standard Odoo Module. Once you purchase it, please follow the following steps to install it:

  • A download link will be given by Odoo once you purchase this module.
  • You need to extract the downloaded file into Odoo 'addons' directory where all other modules are kept or you can put it anywhere else depending on your Odoo Configuration
  • It may NOT be necessary to restart Odoo at this stage, but it is highly recommended.
  • Enable Developer/Debug Mode and go to Apps menu. Click on Updates Apps list for the new module to appear on the list of Apps.
  • Search for payment_pesapal in the Apps list and then click on Install button and wait for it to finish
  • After that you can go to Accounting --> Configuration --> Payments --> Payment Providers to create your PesaPal Payment Gateway.
