Product Google Drive Files
Manage product files in Google Drive from Odoo with tags, product-wise version history, and direct access from the product screen.
What this module does
Upload files from the product
Open a product, click Google Drive, and upload related files into Google Drive without leaving the product workflow.
Tag and version product assets
Assign a primary tag like Sample, Swatch, Final, or Post Shot and create clean version history for the same product and tag combination.
Support multiple file categories
Manage images, PDF, Word, Excel, CAD, and video files in one product-linked Google Drive library.
Store in Drive, track in Odoo
Files are stored in Google Drive after successful upload, local Odoo copies are cleaned, and Odoo keeps tags, links, states, and version history.
How it works
- Configure Google Drive in Inventory â Settings.
- Choose OAuth shared company account or Service Account.
- Set the root folder and optional Shared Drive ID, then run Test Connection.
- Open a product and click Google Drive.
- Upload files, choose the primary tag, and add any additional tags.
- Upload again for the same product and primary tag to create the next version while preserving older history.
- Open files in Google Drive or review the version history directly from Odoo.
Google setup
Option 1 â OAuth (Shared Company Account)
Recommended for personal Gmail or one shared company Google user account.
Google setup
- Create or select a Google Cloud project and enable Google Drive API.
- Configure the OAuth consent screen and choose External for personal Gmail.
- Create Credentials â OAuth Client ID as a Web application.
- Add the Odoo redirect URI, such as
http://localhost:8069/product_google_drive_images/oauth2callback.
Odoo settings
- Open Inventory â Settings â Google Drive Product Images.
- Set Authentication Mode to OAuth (Shared Company Account).
- Paste the Google OAuth Client ID and Client Secret.
- Enter the Root Folder ID and leave Shared Drive ID empty unless needed.
- Save, click Connect / Reconnect Google Account, then run Test Connection.
Option 2 â Service Account
Recommended for Google Workspace Shared Drive setups and server-to-server access.
Google setup
- Create or select a Google Cloud project and enable Google Drive API.
- Create a Service Account and generate the JSON key file.
- Share the target Google Drive folder or Shared Drive with the service account email as Editor.
- Copy the Root Folder ID and optional Shared Drive ID.
Odoo settings
- Open Inventory â Settings â Google Drive Product Images.
- Set Authentication Mode to Service Account.
- Upload the Google Service Account Key File (JSON).
- Enter the Root Folder ID and Shared Drive ID when using Workspace Shared Drives.
- Save, confirm the service account email, then run Test Connection.
Common notes
- Get the Root Folder ID from the Google Drive folder URL after
/folders/. - Use Shared Drive ID only for Google Workspace Shared Drive setups.
- Test Connection checks authentication, folder access, create/delete permissions, and Shared Drive consistency when configured.
