Show Edit Button
Safer Forms, Better Control
Why this module?
In standard Odoo configurations, clicking a record often opens it directly in edit mode. This can lead to unintended data changes if a user clicks incorrectly or modifies a field while scrolling.
This module enforces a safer workflow: Readonly first. Users must consciously click "Edit" to modify data, ensuring data integrity.
Key Highlights
Readonly by Default
Opens existing records in readonly mode to prevent accidental edits.
Explicit Edit Button
A dedicated 'Edit' button switches the form to edit mode.
Save & Discard
Edit mode clearly shows standard Save and Discard actions.
Safe & Secure
Respects Odoo access rights; only permitted users can edit.
Screenshots

- Show the edit button when the form is readonly.
2. Edit Mode (after clicking Edit)
- When you click the edit button, the form will change to edit mode.
- Shows the Save and Discard buttons when the form is in edit mode.
3. Confirmation Message
This feature prevent Odoo's auto-save functionality. If the form view is in edit mode and has unsaved changes, performing any action on the form view will trigger a confirmation message.
- Cancel: Closes the confirmation message and cancels the action.
- Discard: Discards form changes and executes the action.
- Save: Saves form changes and executes the action.
